works fine at a good price
A few years ago I had bought an expensive circular polarizing filter for a Kodak evf zoom camera. This ring allows us to use that filter on the prime lens for the Nikon D90 that we subsequently bought

Does the job inexpensively
I have several Adorama step-up rings. They do the job well and cost very little. They're sure a lot cheaper than buying filters for each size of camera lens. I buy the protective glass filter for each lens in the lenses size and then use step-rings, or maybe two of them to get to the filter that I already have.

Cheaper than buying new filters!
With a new camera, flash, etc. using the step up ring lets me use my 55mm filters, saving money!
