The flash incorporates all the features of a professional 600 WS strobe within a sleek and tough housing. Features like completely continuous variable power settings from 1/32 to full output (5 stops)with self-bleed circuitry, a 250 watt modeling lamp that can be linked to power settings, built in optical slave photocell trigger, replaceable flash tube, visual and switchable audio verification of recycle signals, cooling fan, and sync connections to camera or remote devices.

The advanced design self contained strobe head delivers consistent bursts of light with an efficient guide number of 230 (ISO100/ft) to create studio quality images from still life sets to portraits. The use of affordable portable, lightweight strobe units adds real image control to your work without the major expense of high energy generator packs. Portraits become masterful. Event coverage a breeze. Product photography is brought to life. Food and beverage pictures become tempting. Buy several of the 1220M's or mix it up with the smaller 620M and 320M's for a powerful lighting system.

The optional lightweight external NiH battery pack frees you from AC wires for total lighting independence for at least 200 full power shots. The 2.6 pound M Series PowerPack keeps you in the action without the restriction of AC wires and extensions, anywhere.

Great value. I plan on buying more.

Suprisingly rugged for the price. The cans are aluminum and hold up well to less than gentle use. They work excellently with radio slaves. My only complaint was having to order adapters from Photoflex to use my softboxes.

These lights work great!

By

from San Francisco  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I have been using these lights for a year. Recently, I bought another 320m light for spotlighting certain areas on the model/background, and it works great. I have had no problem using these lights. They are reliable and sturdy.

This new model M has it all. I used White Lightenings for years but they broke a lot. Not this one. Runs cool also.

Flashpoint 320m Great Purchase

By

from Brooklyn, NY  -  Pro Photographer

After shooting with nikon CLS on a once new d200 and 2 sb800 bouncing off umbrellas, I picked up 2 of these 320m and 2 glo medium soft boxes and I want to kick myself for not shooting with strobes from day 1. They are more responsive in getting those sharp popping images. I shoot a lot of glamour stuff and they are decent for the price. I picked up an impact powersync16 radio system, 1 trigger 2 receivers so I can trigger the sb-800 ' s and the 320m together and it works great. Also picked up a vello freewave wireless remote shutter release, so I don't have to hold the camera and take a selfie. Also picked up a 60 inch b&w umbella from adorama dirt cheap for 20 bucks, throws great light, but will need a 3rd light perhaps the 620m and some sort of portable power supply that can hold 3 strobes. Even tho I can mix the monolites with speedlite via radio triggers I want a little more power for a main light where I have the option to turn them down like I would most likely have to do with the 620m series, I feel. I will most likely still use the sb800 on outdoor shoots on the 60 inch umbrella just because it a lighter load carry.

Great and Can't Beat Price

By

from Saginaw, MI  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I have three of these strobes now. I have never had any issues and they work great. After thousands of flashes I have never had a misfire. The stobe is light and has a quick recycle time. Add the battery pack and you get portable light that is cheaper than a speedlight. Even though this is only 150 watts it is enough power even for outdoor portraits. I have used this with a beauty dish, in full daylight, with the sun to the models back, and it was powerful enough to light the subject.

Good Light For The Money

By

from Trinidad W.I  -  Semi-pro Photographer

The light itself is great, the recycle time is fairly quick, I using it at half power and takes a little less than a second to to recharge. That being said don't expect to do and Fashion Photography with it, There is more than enough power to do Studio work.

Great addition to my studiio lighting

By

from Norman, OK  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Paired with a beauty dish this has become my go to monolight for portraits and headshots. I also attach it to an overhead boom and create unique toplit touches. Especially like the built in slave unit, when it becomes necessary in a three light situation. Light, portable, fast recycle. At this point I've not had any negative situations arise

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
MARC F  "I wanted a studio that I could use on location with no AC power. I love everything about the set except the weight. I also added another 1200 head and battery pack to have a complete 3 head set. I almost never use my Bowens studio set anymore."
Shopper  What is the sync speed of the 1220m ?
STACY J  It depends on your trigger system really. For example a phottix Odin will let you sync to 1/8000 where as a phottix ares will only do something like 1/250 or maybe 1/300. It also depends on the ambient light available and your camera. Maybe not the most clear answer, but with a good trigger system these lights are awesome!!
David H  I am interested in purchasing this light and using a Flashpoint 40x56" PZ Softbox with it. Do I need to purchase anything to make the conneciton?
PHILIP S  No. The Flashpoint soft box comes with a speeding that fits the Flashpoint moonlight. They work great and are a steal at Adorama's price.
