Best entry level monolight value.. EVER!

By

I ordered 2 of these kits to replace my speedlights and have been playing with them for a few hours, and so far I am nothing but impressed with them. Everything is well made and took less than 10 minutes to set up 2 lights. The softboxes did not come with instructions, so the first time I put them together it took a little longer to figure them out. The modeling light has a proportional output setting to it makes it easier to setup some complex portraits and even at 150 w/s has enough power for headshots all small groups without going to full power. The only downside is the reflector rattles a little, but it doesn't bother me at all.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Ronald H  Initially for the value. I needed a medium sized strobe on slight budget. The reviews were good so I tried it. After I received it and used it, it was very good. Great color match, 5500 kel, easy use, nice modeling lamp. This is a nice strobe for small and medium sized studios. Soft box produces very nice soft lighting.
Greg L  How do you set up the softbox. Mine is listed as 24x24 but looks round. Where do rods go???????????
THOMAS B  Greg, this softbox is notorious for having no assembly instructions and difficult to put together. I have kept mine assembled ever since. The black outer shell is not round but bells out to a square opening. You'll notice four seams which end with velcro. The rods go along those seams and fit into the little sewn pockets at each end of the four seams. Once you get all four rods into those pockets, the fun begins. The circular metal piece is what the other ends of the four rods fit into but each rod will need to bend a bit for them all to go in the rotatable metal frame. On the outside of the frame are eight holes that the fat end of the rods fit into. Since the casing is square, you only need to fill four of the holes. Have someone help you keep things steady and in place as you carefully bend the rods and get them into their respective holes. The last one is the most difficult.
Adam J  I am from Australia, I require a 240v version of this kit, what are the possibilities? Can I just use a simple travel adapter?
CHRISTINE M  I would ask sales about this, the battery and recharger are separate purchases but I love that the lights have this capability in the future. Love the lights and their ease of use and amazing results. I use them with the Canon 7d. Christine
