The H4 ballhead from 3POD is designed to max durability and to min weight.
The H4 aluminum ballhead from 3POD's H series employs an advanced hydraulic damping system for silky smooth movement. The 44mm ball floats in a superhard CNC forged aluminum shell, and is a prime choice for heavy-duty photography projects with a supported payload of up to 33lbs.
The smooth movement of the ball itself is controlled with adjustment knobs, and the panning base features 360º of movement with a highly visible positioning dial, perfect for techniques like panoramic splicing where exactness is a must.
The included sliding quick release plate features a universal ¼" mounting screw suitable for cameras of all sizes and locks independently to the body of the ballhead for a secure, protective mount.
The H4 can be fastened to a tripod body or center column for a wide variety of projects, or can be used alone as a tabletop mount for close-range photography.

I have a Nikon D7000 and D800 E. The screw that attaches to the camera is too long for the female mount on those two bodies. I too tried a washer only to discover that it would then not fit on the ball head. Worse, fluid of some sort is leaking from the main knob. I thought it was residue from manufacture and cleaned it. Sadly, every time I tighten or release the knob there is viscous fluid leaking between the main body and the main knob itself. Also as temperatures change I'm sure the leakage will become worse. I did take the screw out of an Enduro plate and that fit into the H4 and the Nikon cameras. Unfortunately, I need that screw for my Enduro pan head. How could the maker screw this up, so to speak? In the H4s defense, with the Induro screw it does hold well and is very easy to control and certainly lighter than most tripod heads. For now though, its simply a dud, especially for Nikon owners.
Easy to lock and it holds like a rock! No camera movement after easy locking in position. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a good and stable head. Quick release operates with ease.
I bought this device based on the description for it's max weight load and described quality. However, It's useless because its mounting screw camera is too long. I put my Nikon D800 on it with screw fully tighten, there is sitll about 2~3 mm gap between the quick release plate and the bottom of the camera. So, the quick release plate is sliding freely. I tried to put a washer between the scree head and the plate, it works (of course) but the screw head is now in the way of the base. This single screw makes this whole head useless. I hope Flashpoint can fix this problem
