Questions & Answers

ROB G : Does this ballhead accept standard Swiss Arca plates?TY C : I bought this tripod last year and it fits my arcaswiss platesNICHOLAS W : Yes it takes arca Swiss plates.JASON P : Yes
COREY T : Will this tripod handle a 5DIII and an L lens? I'm looking for a compact tripod that is also sturdy enough to not fall over (especially with a ball head) when my setup is attached.CLIFTON G : I am not sure. But, I used this tripod with a Nikon D600 and a 70-200 mm lens (f/2.8) on my trip to Australia and didn't have any issues. The setup was very stable. At Times, I also used a TC-20E lll teleconverter. Hopefully, this information will be helpful.TYRELL S : I would buy a tripod with a higher weight rating. Mine had a hard time holding up a similarly sized camera after a few months. It was like the ball head wore out.MICHAEL J : This is a great little tripod for packing or carrying. I bought it for my Nikon D800 and it works nicely for short zoom lenses. I would hesitate to use it paired with a long lens. If you are mounting your lens to the tripod rather than the camera and it was for occasional use you could probably get away with it. This tripod is awesome for the price understanding it is a lightweight compact tripod. If you are looking for a workhorse for longer lenses it probably isn’t the answer, but what lightweight compact tripod is?MICHAEL P : Will support up to 26 pounds.JASON P : Yes, I have the 5d mark iii With grip. It holds it just fine with a 70-200 f2.8 the biggest lens I own. of course you would attach a big lens like that on the lens tripod collar. The head does settle a bit with weight so you have to compose your shot just a tad high. You get used to it. On more expensive heads I have it does the same. Maybe the top of the line don't or it is just the way it is, idk. Either way this tripod is great for the MO ey.
Shopper : How do you drop the camera to vertical?NICHOLAS W : To shoot vertical just loosen the ball head!DAVID K : There is a notch that allows the ball head to come down to a 90 degree angle, just make sure that you orient the tripod so that it is facing off to the side in a perpendicular direction from you. It's actually quite a clever design.RICHARD C : Just loosen the head and rotate your camera 90°.JASON P : To turn into vertical position there is a notch in the ball head that allows the camera to be turned all the way on it's sideROBERT D : Theres a notch in the ball head that allows the stem to slide down and bring the camera to a vertical position.TYRELL S : This tripod doesn't do that. You can try bending the legs upside down, but it's not as stable.

Very good product at a very good price

This is an excellent compact tripod that extends to a very useful height and is rather solid. If more stability is needed, one can hang a backpack or other weight from the hook. Easy setup/packing.

Great for Backpacking

Carbon Fiber, very lite{approx 3lbs W/Head} but a little flimsy [On sale ($)+ for top line Carbon fiber].. Ball head is OK, the Ball portion & Knobs work very good, the lower Panning portion has sticking problem.. But I still recommend this unit for Camera&Lenses under 12lbs..

Sturdy, light, and portable

Caveat: I do not have a long heavy lens. This tripod is plenty sturdy with my D610 with my heaviest lens attached. The instructions are intuitive and easy to follow and all the listed functionality is achievable by at most removing two screws. I'm looking forward to my next hike so I can test it in the field.

Carbon fiber for ($)

Awhile ago got the 3legged travel tripod in aluminum. When I saw this one for ($) I decide to buy it for the carbon fiber. They ARE lighter and the ball head that comes with seems more secure. Have not had a chance to try it in real life situation but what I've have done I'm Really happy with it!!

Great tripod for the money

I have been using a heavy tripod that works fine, but is not good for travel. This tripod is light and folds to a small travel size. Never though I would find a carbon fiber tripod at such a low price. I thought that I could take a chance for ($) and was very surprised of the quality. It can hold my camera and a 300mm zoom lens with ease.

Awesome and stable!

It is very light weight and easy to carry around. The ballhead included helps me a lot with precision and keeping my Sony a6000 with a Telephoto lense in place without hesitation. The only thing I am not crazy about is the twisting type of lock it has for keeping the tripod's legs extended, but it is written in the description so I was aware of that before buying it.

Great tripod, but

Tripod arrived, looked great seem to work great, all with the exception of one leg that would not stay extended. Sent back to Adorama for exchange , easy return so far.

Good tripod for lighter cameras

Good tripod for lighter cameras. My Nikon D7200 is a bit shaky on it. The smallest section on one leg required a bit of remodeling to be reliable. The ball head is solid, smooth and works nicely

Light Travel Tripod

This is a light compact tripod that includes a complete bullhead and can support an heavy camera/lens combination. It can be set up fairly quickly but note it has 5 part legs so thats a lot of twist locks to manipulate. The only downside of the tripod was the top plate of the bullhead which had the wrong screw size. The chamfered hole in the plate did not match the screw and took a little filling to make right. Otherwise everything worked as designed. Oh, BTW, there are not any spiked feet as mentioned in the on-line add.

Extremely versatile tripod

Super flexible tripod will work in most any position. Slightly shakey when everything extended, but certainly works well with full size dslr.

Takes up very little room in my Backpack. Very Lightweight, but sturdy enough for a 70-200 f2.8 and D800E.

Recently used this tripod and Head to photograph the Blood Moon Eclipse. I was using a Sigma 300 mm with a 2x multiplier and found the system very stable and easy to setup without a lot of shake when taking the photos.

Just what I was looking for for travel

This tripod is the exact thing I need whether I am traveling by plane or on my motorcycle. It is what it is. It is very light, feeling a little fragile, but in a museum, or an occasional architectural street shot, it will work just fine. I always use a 2 sec. Timer, hands off to ensure it is still for a shot. I am a Mirrorless user so my small cameras work just fine with this tiny and light tripod. The ARCA friendly head is perfect and works with all my tripod accessories.

Ball head froze

I too bought this tripod based on its light weight so i could pack in in my checked bags when I fly to do a shoot. I have used it on four trips, the last two times the "Unique internal structure with floating ballhead and effortless locking mechanism" did just that, it locked up. It is anything but effortless. It has been real embarrassing to try to adjust the camera with people standing around with me looking for any way to unloosen then tighten the "effortless mechanism". The knob is frozen and i have to remove the camera then strain to position the plate, then use a Kung Fu grip to turn the knob to lock it into place, then remount the camera. it seems like a good idea, but the "extreme effort mechanism" option needs to go.

Awesome tripod!

This tripod is great for most applications. It's extremely light and folds very small, so it's great for those of you that carry your tripod around a lot. It's pretty stable for being only 2+ lbs, especially in a low position. Once you get the legs and center columns extended, you (understandably) lose a bit of stability. It's very well built and everything works as it should...on the tripod. Unfortunately, after about a month of use, the head developed some give. So when I get set up and composed for a shot, it moves after I let it go. It can become unbelievably frustrating. I've taken it apart and made sure everything is tightened, but the stem piece simply no longer fits snugly into the bottom of the release plate. I'm very happy with the tripod itself, but I'm not very pleased that I'm already going to have to buy a new ball head for it.

Great little tripod

This is a well built tripod. Fits in a carry on suitcase easily. On the heavy side, which is good. Makes for a sturdy solid support. I have been using it for a year now and still love it.

Very Well Done

By Robert S.

I have long been a user of Manfrotto/Bogen tripods (e.g., 3021Pro/3047) in the studio. Higher ISO sensors have encouraged me to shoot in ever lower ambient lighting (without flash) but still often with relatively slow speeds. Conversely, working against the slow shutter speeds is advancing age :-) and the addition of an ultra high pixel count D800--both of which place a premium on eliminating camera shake. Thus the need for a highly portable tripod. This new item by 3Pod seems to be a great...

Best all-around Tripod for travel

By JANE C.

I had been looking for a ball-head tripod that was study, lightweight and easy to use for travel. Gitzos had been at the top of everyone's list, but they were just far too expensive for my budget. The 3Pod Compact Carbon Tripod with Ball Head is the best, most easy to use tripod I have found to suit my purposes and it's very reasonably priced. I am a 5'7" woman of average build, and this will pack nicely in my backpack on daily photographic excursions. I would highly recommend this tripod t...

The P5ARH from 3POD may be the sharpest tripod system we've created yet. Tough, yet lightweight aluminum construction and anodized blue accents contribute to both a stunning appearance and a superior wear-resistant finish.

The legs feature 180° of motion, folding up around the center column for an amazingly compact traveling height of 12", and with the entire unit weighing in at a svelte 3lbs, there's nothing to stop you from carrying it with you anywhere you go.

The center column can be expanded to give the system a full height of 56.3".A convenient retractable weight hook provides additional stability as well as a place to hang accessories.

Each 4-sectioned telescoping leg features three position settings, and can locked in place individually for perfect stability on uneven terrain. The double-jacketed twist-locks are fortified with a cutting-edge, wear-resistant internal structure making them immune to dust, moisture, and changes in temperature, as well as the gradual loosening over time that can occur in inferior locking mechanisms.

K3 Hydraulic Professional Ballhead:
The included K3 professional ballhead is elegantly designed for optimal weight distribution. The scratch-resistant carbon body employs advanced CNC forging technology and a hard protective finish for a wear-free appearance.

The K3 features enhanced hydraulic damping and 360° of smooth, jitter-free rotation. Two bubble levels are built directly into the ballhead for easy calibration. A sliding quick-release plate with a universal 1/4" mounting screw is also included with the ballhead, and attaches to the head via a flip lock clamp mechanism.
