This is an excellent compact tripod that extends to a very useful height and is rather solid. If more stability is needed, one can hang a backpack or other weight from the hook. Easy setup/packing.

Carbon Fiber, very lite{approx 3lbs W/Head} but a little flimsy [On sale ($)+ for top line Carbon fiber].. Ball head is OK, the Ball portion & Knobs work very good, the lower Panning portion has sticking problem.. But I still recommend this unit for Camera&Lenses under 12lbs..

Caveat: I do not have a long heavy lens. This tripod is plenty sturdy with my D610 with my heaviest lens attached. The instructions are intuitive and easy to follow and all the listed functionality is achievable by at most removing two screws. I'm looking forward to my next hike so I can test it in the field.

Awhile ago got the 3legged travel tripod in aluminum. When I saw this one for ($) I decide to buy it for the carbon fiber. They ARE lighter and the ball head that comes with seems more secure. Have not had a chance to try it in real life situation but what I've have done I'm Really happy with it!!

I have been using a heavy tripod that works fine, but is not good for travel. This tripod is light and folds to a small travel size. Never though I would find a carbon fiber tripod at such a low price. I thought that I could take a chance for ($) and was very surprised of the quality. It can hold my camera and a 300mm zoom lens with ease.

It is very light weight and easy to carry around. The ballhead included helps me a lot with precision and keeping my Sony a6000 with a Telephoto lense in place without hesitation. The only thing I am not crazy about is the twisting type of lock it has for keeping the tripod's legs extended, but it is written in the description so I was aware of that before buying it.

Tripod arrived, looked great seem to work great, all with the exception of one leg that would not stay extended. Sent back to Adorama for exchange , easy return so far.

Good tripod for lighter cameras. My Nikon D7200 is a bit shaky on it. The smallest section on one leg required a bit of remodeling to be reliable. The ball head is solid, smooth and works nicely

Love the lightness and compactness of the fold up legs, I head into the backcountry a lot and this will be great and looks like it will handle anything I encounter

This is a light compact tripod that includes a complete bullhead and can support an heavy camera/lens combination. It can be set up fairly quickly but note it has 5 part legs so thats a lot of twist locks to manipulate. The only downside of the tripod was the top plate of the bullhead which had the wrong screw size. The chamfered hole in the plate did not match the screw and took a little filling to make right. Otherwise everything worked as designed. Oh, BTW, there are not any spiked feet as mentioned in the on-line add.

Super flexible tripod will work in most any position. Slightly shakey when everything extended, but certainly works well with full size dslr.

Takes up very little room in my Backpack. Very Lightweight, but sturdy enough for a 70-200 f2.8 and D800E.

Recently used this tripod and Head to photograph the Blood Moon Eclipse. I was using a Sigma 300 mm with a 2x multiplier and found the system very stable and easy to setup without a lot of shake when taking the photos.

This tripod is the exact thing I need whether I am traveling by plane or on my motorcycle. It is what it is. It is very light, feeling a little fragile, but in a museum, or an occasional architectural street shot, it will work just fine. I always use a 2 sec. Timer, hands off to ensure it is still for a shot. I am a Mirrorless user so my small cameras work just fine with this tiny and light tripod. The ARCA friendly head is perfect and works with all my tripod accessories.

I too bought this tripod based on its light weight so i could pack in in my checked bags when I fly to do a shoot. I have used it on four trips, the last two times the "Unique internal structure with floating ballhead and effortless locking mechanism" did just that, it locked up. It is anything but effortless. It has been real embarrassing to try to adjust the camera with people standing around with me looking for any way to unloosen then tighten the "effortless mechanism". The knob is frozen and i have to remove the camera then strain to position the plate, then use a Kung Fu grip to turn the knob to lock it into place, then remount the camera. it seems like a good idea, but the "extreme effort mechanism" option needs to go.

This tripod is great for most applications. It's extremely light and folds very small, so it's great for those of you that carry your tripod around a lot. It's pretty stable for being only 2+ lbs, especially in a low position. Once you get the legs and center columns extended, you (understandably) lose a bit of stability. It's very well built and everything works as it should...on the tripod. Unfortunately, after about a month of use, the head developed some give. So when I get set up and composed for a shot, it moves after I let it go. It can become unbelievably frustrating. I've taken it apart and made sure everything is tightened, but the stem piece simply no longer fits snugly into the bottom of the release plate. I'm very happy with the tripod itself, but I'm not very pleased that I'm already going to have to buy a new ball head for it.

This is a well built tripod. Fits in a carry on suitcase easily. On the heavy side, which is good. Makes for a sturdy solid support. I have been using it for a year now and still love it.

Very Well Done
By Robert S.
I have long been a user of Manfrotto/Bogen tripods (e.g., 3021Pro/3047) in the studio. Higher ISO sensors have encouraged me to shoot in ever lower ambient lighting (without flash) but still often with relatively slow speeds. Conversely, working against the slow shutter speeds is advancing age :-) and the addition of an ultra high pixel count D800--both of which place a premium on eliminating camera shake. Thus the need for a highly portable tripod. This new item by 3Pod seems to be a great...

Best all-around Tripod for travel
By JANE C.
I had been looking for a ball-head tripod that was study, lightweight and easy to use for travel. Gitzos had been at the top of everyone's list, but they were just far too expensive for my budget. The 3Pod Compact Carbon Tripod with Ball Head is the best, most easy to use tripod I have found to suit my purposes and it's very reasonably priced. I am a 5'7" woman of average build, and this will pack nicely in my backpack on daily photographic excursions. I would highly recommend this tripod t...

3POD's P5CRH Tripod camera support system is an incredibly versatile product that gives you double the features of comparable systems at a surprisingly affordable price. The Carbon fiber crafted striped texture is burnished into the surface of the legs and detachable two-tiered center column.
The 5-sectioned legs individually secure and can unfold in a single turn of the metal-jacketed twist locks. Each leg ends in a spiked outdoor-ready foot under a removable nonslip rubber cap.
Superior wear-resistance lock guards built into each leg ward against slippage due to temperature changes or gradual loosening over time. The legs also fold up around the center column at a 180° angle for a compact 12" storage and transport configuration.
This is a full featured tripod capable of tackling all the challenges of the trail. Each leg angle is individually adjustable and fixed, as you would expect in superior designed tripods, allowing for compensation to uneven surfaces, even edges and stairs, in angular placement with 3 position settings.
The asymmetrical placement of the legs serves to create a offset to the center of gravity and more flexible positioning in the wild.
The P5CRH's capability makes it suitable for a huge range of projects. Holding up to 22lbs, but weighing in at an impossibly light 2.6lbs, it can be sped out of a gear case and at a moment's notice for perfect, steadied shots. The center column and utilizes the same reinforced twist-locking technology featured on the tripod legs.
K3 Hydraulic Professional Ballhead:
The included K3 professional ballhead is elegantly designed for optimal weight distribution. The scratch-resistant carbon body employs advanced CNC forging technology and a hard protective finish for a wear-free appearance.
The K3 features enhanced hydraulic damping and 360° of smooth, jitter-free rotation. The bubble levels are built directly into the ballhead for easy calibration. A sliding quick-release plate with a universal 1/4" mounting screw is also included with the ballhead, and attaches to the head via a flip lock clamp mechanism.
