Best kit on the market for the price

Consistent light output. Even @ 1/32 light has good color value. I did a phootshoot for a dance studio. The pictures were very consisent. I researched online and nothing comes close to the value of this kit. Well built monolights. Stands are acceptable,Case fits everything plus more. I also purchased the Flashpoint 32x48 softbox and battery power pack. The AC/DC is a huge advantage for outdoor shoots. The 620M comes with the DC cord so you can run both lights on the single power pack. Overall...

NOT HAPPY!

The lights work, and they work great. I was very happy about how quickly the product got to me as well (less than a week). What SUCKS is the customer service. Unfortunately one of the stands was broken and the optical sensor on one of the 620's was busted as well. It still worked, but the little plastic cover that shields the sensor had been busted (more than likely during shipment, as I could hear the piece rattling around within the unit). So, out of this whole kit, I have 2 pieces that are...

Unfortunately one of the stands was broken and the optical sensor on one of the 620's was busted as well. It still worked, but the little plastic cover that shields the sensor had been busted (more than likely during shipment, as I could hear the piece rattling around within the unit). So, out of this whole kit, I have 2 pieces that are needing to be dealt with, so I call customer service. So I get ahold of Jona V... who speaks rather "broken" english. Jona seems to constantly interrupt me when I'm trying to explain whats going on - this is because of the 3 second delay when talking to her, probably because she is located on the other side of the planet! Poor Jona can do nothing be follow her checklist and tends to not understand my dilema. Not only does she not understand me, she doesn't appear to have any knowledge of the product itself. "Optical Sensor"??! "Air Cushioned Stand"??! I'm trying to explain to her that I do not want to return the entire kit, but rather just the broken pieces and have them exchanged. She doesn't understand. In strictly following her checklist I'm told I have to...a) take pictures of the broken merchandise...b) email to the pictures to Jona, who will....c) email UPS so UPS can.....d) schedule a time with me to come out and look at the packaging and broken merchandise and will then determine if they will take responsibility for the issue, and then......e) UPS will email Jona their decision, who will then forward me an email on what course of action Adorama will take so that I can either.......1) Send back the entire kit for a full refund, or2) Send back the entire kit and...1a) exchange it for another of the exact type, or1b) change my order to something similar.f) then package the entire kit back into all the original packaging........g) waste my time delivering this package to UPS so they can send it back to Adorama.I liken this to ordering a television online, and once you get it you find the remote doesn't work... and so instead of just sending back the remote and having a new one shipped to you, you have to send back the entire tv and wait for them to send you a new one. HOW REDICULOUS ADORAMA!!I ordered this well in advance of the holiday rush. I did this so I could take family pictures for Christmas this year, and, to hopefully avoid having to wait for 2 to 3 weeks to get my merchandise. Now, not only do I have to go through the hassle of packaging it all up and delivering it to the UPS store, I will not be able to have the lights to take nice family photos, AND I have to find another kit (as I'm opting for the FULL REFUND FROM ADORAMA!) and wait for it to get here... and who knows, maybe go through all this [*] again!Note: throughout the ordeal, Jona did keep her cool... I did not. I'm impressed about that.Adorama: The product would have been exactly what I needed. I would have been completely satisfied if it had arrived undamaged. I would have dealt with it had I felt my needs were being met with the exchange process. I am 100% dissatisfied with your customer service and cannot overlook the fact that you outsource your customer support, that customer support appears to have no knowledge of your product, and the horrible process for dealing with broken merchandise. I will not ever order anything from your website again.

Impressed

By

Impressed. I revieved five box's via UPS. All of these box's had big damage, holes, beat up edges, and one which a Bear must have hugged it. I was like really. Everything works great with no sign of any damage, couldnt believe it. Good case, good stands, and good lights. Havent used the umbrellas but the white shoot threw part looks a bit thin and probably would cause uneven lighting. Just bought wireless triggers based on Julio's recomendation, hopeing they work along side with my canon speedlights....sku:FPRRS16, FPRS16R, FPRRS8R.

Quality Lights at Entry-Level Prices

By

from Atlanta, GA  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Don't let the affordable price of these units confuse you...These are solid lights with consistent performance and excellent lighting characteristics. I just did my first portrait sitting with my new kit and am extremely pleased with the results. My complete lighting kit includes this set, plus FP320MBS Flashpoint II-320 for backlighting, FPBDK barndoor & gels, and two SB3248E 32 x 48" softboxes. This combination gives me all the power I could possibly want for individual and small group portraits; in fact in the sitting I just shot I found myself using 1/4 to 1/2 power at the max for most shots. Excellent color, very subtle adjustments are available on each light, and the slave syncing of the three strobes performed flawlessly. At these power settings, I found cycle times to be anywhere from a half-second to two seconds max. The modeling lights do a decent job of showing similar proportionality to the strobe shot...not perfect, you still need to do some test shots, but enough to get in the ballpark. I can't speak to durability yet as I only just got them, but I would definitely recommend this set to anyone who doesn't feel the need to spend thousands to believe that they have quality!

Not as advertised

By

from Charles County, MD  -  Photography Student

I first saw this product on Adorama TV where it shows the black covering on the umbrellas. When the item arrived it came with two shoot thru umbrellas. I contacted customer service which gave me the run around. I told them that there advertising was false to no avail. Today I still can't get the modeling lights to work. Will take my time and money somewhere else.

Decent for the price

By

from Merrimac, NH  -  Photo Enthusiast

Overall not a bad kit for the money. The lights are pretty long but well made. The flashes are powerful but I find the modeling light lacking. Too yellow of tones. I wll perhaps try flourescent bulbs. The only bad part of this kit are the included umbrellas. They are paper thin and even with the flash turned all the way down you get weird artifacts when shooting through them. Also, they are NOT backed with a removable black cover as you would think from seeing the pictures of the product online. The stands seem sturdy enough and the included case is not bad. Wish is came with speed rings for this price.

I love this kit! Nice light, recharges fast enough. Very versatile. Stands are very good and sturdy. For what you pay, you get a wonderful starter kit that you can build on for years to come. It will change the way you shoot, for the better!

Great for the price

By

I used this with a Canon EOS 50D. Very compatible and easy to use. I hardly read instructions anyways. The lights are easy to move around but can give off some heat even with the cooling fan. Easy set up.

By

I love the way the lights are adjustable and sturdy. The stands are strong and the case sturdy and padded. It takes wonderful pictures! I would and will buy again! I've had this set for a couple monthes now and it has worked wonderful in my studio. It's much nicer and more professional looking than my last set.
