Inexpensive but effective

We had been using a stand with a single collapsible backdrop clip for our boothless-photobooth at weddings; that not only looked cheap and unprofessional, it was also relatively unstable and difficult to setup reliably. I'd been meaning to acquire a more stable solution for a while, and since we decided to have our assistant set up the "booth" at our next wedding I wanted to have something that wouldn't be hugely frustrating for her to use (since the collapsible background can be a real pain!). On first inspection, this kit seems perfect for our photobooth needs. It's inexpensive (always a plus with gear that goes out of our sight for any length of time), putting two of the included four crossbar sections together makes for the perfect width for both our collapsible backdrop and large sheets of Sunbrella material (which is what we tell our clients to give us if they want a custom background for their booth). A collapsible crossbar would be nicer, but certainly more expensive (and probably not necessary, it's just what I was used to using in studio courses at college). The thumb screws for the support poles seem a little cheaply made, but they don't take much tightening to do the job, so I'm not going to worry about it. All in all, I'm very pleased with the product at this price point. If we were going to be using this in a studio situation I'd want something more heavy-duty, but for a mobile "booth" this is a good fit. (I'm especially pleased that it came with a carrying case-- which I'm hoping will also fit our lightstand and umbrella with the two extra crossbar sections removed, though I haven't tried it yet!)

Do not purchase!

I ordered this and it arrived very poorly packaged in what was practically ripped up shards of cardboard hanging together by packaging tape. The top of one of the support stand legs was broken, rendering the product unusable. No replacement part was issued. Very disappointed and will not be purchasing from this company again!

It's okay

Holding a roll of black velour it's not very stable. Best to use a lighter backdrop and sandbag the stands.

Great Value

I have owned this stand for about a year and tote it with me for location work. I have used it with muslim, canvas, and paper backgrounds. The stands and support bar are plenty sturdy for the backgrounds I have used. The stand's cushion feels more like a spring than air cushioning, but they aren't meant to be used with lights. I like the bag that comes with the kit. Everything fits tight, and it is well made. For a portable background stand, this is a great value.

Decent for the price

Nice little kit for a great price. One of the springs came out of one of the stands, but no biggie, I just put it back in. It's nice it comes with a bag, but I wish the bag was a little more durable. I feel after the second location shoot it will fall apart. Overall, it works and gets the job done at a great price.

Not Impressed

By

I purchased this unit as I am just starting out in having my own home studio and liked the price but it has given me nothing short of a headache. The first one I recieved had the bottom of one of the support stands broken so it wouldn't even stand up and then I had to get adorama to replace this unit, ( I live in Canada, it takes a while to get these things) and the new one was broken as well. It's not durable in transport at the very least.

arrived broken

By

from Euless, TX  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

Arrived broken. Both stands were broken in the same area. Looks like stress failure from the legs being mounted crooked. No damage to the shipping container. Adorama very slow at exchanging the item. Still waiting. May be my last order from Adorama.

Finally!

FIRST I want to say that this is the second item I have ordered from Adorama and the shipping process was amazing. Fast & well packaged. I love it! -- thank you. SECOND...this is my first background support system so I have nothing to really compare it to. With that said, I can say that it was so easy to put together & take apart. The travel bag is PERFECT too. If you piece the support bar correctly it should be very stable and sturdy. I've had no problems and I'm very happy with my purchase!

Shopper  Does this work with a roll of 53" paper?
DAVID W  Yes; the crossbar is made up of interlocking pieces. If you take out the two middle pieces, the width is 62 1/2".
Katie W  What is the lowest height this can be? I was not sure what "folds 35 inches" means.
CHARLIE W  The stands collapse to being only 35" long for transport and storage.
Shopper  How tall is the actual product when set up?
BRYAN M  When fully extended it will reach almost to an 8' ceiling.
