• This 16" reflector has 4 sockets and comes with four 55 watt flicker-free fluorescent, spiral bulbs. These bulbs are similar to the energy saver' bulbs; they differ in that they are rated at 5500 degrees Kelvin; that is they are daylight balanced. 55 watts in fluorescents translates into 900 watts of light output. There are 4 switches on the back of the unit so you can use the bulbs in 1 to 4 strengths;

These long lasting cool lights emit very little heat and can stay on all day long without a problem.

The Flashpoint CL-4 can be used with Digital Cameras or Camcorders and is great for shooting portraits, or still life.

Flashpoint Cool Light Kit Features

  • Reflector is Faceted for increased light output
  • Includes four 55 watt Fluorescent spiral bulbs
  • Umbrella holder built in to unit

great lights!

I bought these lights for indie film. I've been looking for light-weight, powerful but soft lights. I've been using helogen lights, LED lights, softboxes. So far this light is the best from all the lights I tried. It cast very little shadow but very bright and low heat. The light-stand is very solid and not heavy. I use the box that comes with it as carry case, it's a little big but does the job. Hope Flashpoint can come out a new bag just for these lights.

Questions about this item:

Haitham A  Dose this light kit suitable as backlight for high key portrait? cHEERS,
FRANCIS D  Yes, especially since it gives you a lot of control over both the character of the light (diffuser cover on or straight) and it's intensity (four independently switched lamps) without having to reposition the lamp, much as you might do with a studio strobe.
Shopper  What is the minimum height setting, from floor to center of reflector?
JOEL E  My estimate would be approx 40 inches. I
Shopper  How wide of an angle does the light emanate from the FPCL4K2? In other words, if I set this fixture about 4' away from a model, will the light beam spread wide enough to light my model (normal height female) from head to foot? Or would the beam be too narrow when placed that close? Would an umbrella type be better for close placement to a standing model?
VISHAL D  It will - but you have to manually balance the color - if you are shooting with just this flood light - you might need reflectors
