The FP CL-1144 is and excellent value for the price! Although not as bright as one might like for every application, they are plenty powerful for headshots, and some portraiture. They are daylight balanced and, with the diffusion sock on, give a nice smooth light. I have used them for location shooting as they are super light and easy to set up and take down.

Great light I carry when on the move. It’s well built I like the constant led light instead of flash it’s a new way of thinking. Comes with a well padded case good price point. I might be a little ruff on equipment this light stands up . Good work horse of a light

Very disappointed in the light output. I have a 19" LED ringlight which has less than half the LEDs and the ringlight only produces .3 stop less light than this one.

Over the past six months I've converted my entire studio to LED lighting. The old strobes and flashes are sitting on the shelf. This light is cool, throws plenty of light and is silent. Perfect for portrait stills or video. I did not expect the case to be so well made, it's perfect for taking this light on the road. We do on location music videos and run our lights from portable battery units so we can take them everywhere we need them. These lights have a low power draw and last as long as we need them to on one portapack. This was the perfect size for lighting individuals and I couldn't be happier with it. I definitely recommend it for studio or location work!

Beautiful lights to use for portrait and interior design photography ... I will never use flash again in a studio type of setting. I do use them with umbrellas

I was surprised when I purchased these lights! I shoot all over the San Francisco Bay Area and you never know what type of lighting you may need to you get there! These lights saved me a few times and I use this at weddings at dusk to get the most amazing lighting with the sun set and into the cobalt blue skies! I hook it up to my Vegabond battery and it lasts well into 4 hours of reception! LOVE it!

this LED array is extremely versatile. As stated by others, it is light, and does not flicker when dimmed. For studio macro shots, it throws off no heat. I have used it outdoors as fill and main light, indoors as a kicker and as a wash light for a background. If you are used to shooting with natural light, the continuous light offers many advantages for outdoor portraits. The product is inexpensive relative to the output, and a fraction of its main competitors...

This unit is a great addition to my lighting inventory. Its intensity allows me to use it for either fill-lighting or even as a primary light source.

This is a great LED light and doesn't get hot at all. Lights up a small room pretty well!

I have several other types of LED lights for video production purposes. These are absolutely brilliant with their round shape producing a great catchlight, and with a diffusion sock, or able to take an umbrella mounted straight through the middle - perfect! Because of the relatively large diameter of the light, IMO it works better shooting through a white umbrella rather than reflecting off the umbrella - the light simply obscures too large a central area for my tastes. Another great point is that the dimming feature is flicker-free, unlike one of my other brands. Getting these units from Adorama (rather than the competitors) is the way to go because of the padded "hat box" which seems to be an Adorama exclusive and is essential for storing or transporting them. Absolutely can't go wrong with these!

I have rental properties and I use it to illuminate the dark spaces so I don't have to guess what the flash will give me. It is light and well built and fits on my existing light stands. The included cord is so long, I haven't had to use extension cords. It comes with a very nice case.

Great value for a strong light. They are compact, adjustable and include a diffuser. I use two lights in front currently and an Einstein/Alien Bee for a back light but will be adding a 3rd LED soon. I'm very impressed with the quality and build of these lights. For the slight price difference, I would strongly recommend this over the 500 led version. With the light control you can soften to your liking yet you will have power to spare. I use Manfrotto light stands and they connect very easily and feel solid. I shoot portraits and video, they work well for both!

Its light enough to go anywhere, the LED follows traditional round reflector design in a modern brilliant LED source. Flattering glow is perfect for lighting without the included fitted diffusion cloth. The circular array creates pleasing illumination and naturally round catch lights, the 1144 LED bulbs stay cool, keeping your subjects comfortable even when used close-up. Color is consistent and flicker free at 5600K daylight even while dimming down to 10%. And, light output from 10-100% is remotely controlled for less intrusive presence on the set. With the lamp hour life of 50,000 I enjoy trouble free, economical use for years and years. The brightness of this light does not make you uncomfortable, even when it's close to you. The bulbs stay cool keeping your subjects comfortable while shooting. The coloring is consistent and very accurate, even while dimming down. It's top quality and surely deserves more than a five star rating!

One of the brightest advances in technology is the advent of the light-emitting diode (LED), a two-lead semiconductor light source. When an appropriate voltage is applied to the leads, electrons are able to recombine with electron 'holes' within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons. This effect is called electroluminescence, and the color of the light is determined by the specific energy band gap of the semiconductor.
Impressed yet? No?
LEDs are small, durable and need little power, so they are used in LED strobe lights or continuous camera lights without detrimental heat output, and operate at a safe, low voltage, instead of the 250+ volts commonly found in Xenon strobe tube-based lighting. This is especially useful in lighting for videographers, where space is at a premium and bulky voltage-raising circuitry is undesirable.
Each LED gem glows with exceptional brilliance of light and human genius that old Thomas Edison would have surely appreciated.
