This portable, on-camera LED camera light provides action videographers and still photographers who use DSLRs and HD camcorders with a soft, efficient and cool fill throughout a 60&#189; spread. Our LED lights provide visually accurate color temperatures, flicker-free output and no color shift when dimming. When used outdoors, the small, self-contained LED light panel produces copious fill light to alleviate deep shadows, while blending with available ambient light to add dimension to subjects. I don't need a strobe enough to spend money on a nice one, and the inexpensive ones don't work well (I got one free with purchase of a lens or body, and really liked it, but it abruptly stopped working).

So I thought I'd try a light panel.  I like how this one has both dimmer and adjustable temperature.  It'll take a while to coordinate the temperature of the light with my white balance settings on the camera, but by boosting the ISO a little, the panel provides all the light I need for close-up and medium distance indoor photography.

It's not powerful enough to use as an outdoor fill light, and I've yet to try it beyond five or six feet indoors, but it's been fun so far.

Lightweight and versatile. I especially like the dimming capability.  Got it on a really good deal that gave me two when I ordered. My only disappointment is it didn't come with a battery pack or a DC cord - I had to do a separate order for a battery pack. Slight inconvenience but not a deal breaker.

Great convenient light source for adding that extra little bit of light. Also works well as a fill or accent when shooting outdoors in lowlight conditions (I.e. a model in city light environment at night.)

Should absolutely without a shadow of a doubt come with a battery, but it doesn’t!

Disappointed

It includes no battery, ac adapter, or adapter cord.  Out of the box, it's entirely non-functional without you supplying a power source.

It drains its battery, even when off.  When *off* it draws a whopping 25 mA, flattening a battery completely in less than four days.  It's a design error.  In fairness, the manual does warn to remove the battery when not in use, but that's inexcusable.  Fortunately, if you know which end of a soldering iron to hold, it's about a 30 second fix.  

Inspection inside shows mediocre assembly quality, including insulation with -- I'm not kidding -- a double layer of masking tape.  I'm glad they used *two* layers.  Wouldn't want to think they're cutting corners or something.

The included diffuser is essentially useless, but does protect the otherwise bare LEDs and their circuit board.  Unfortunately, it falls out of its slot very easily.  A bit of gaffer tape fixes that, but it's a stupid thing to have to fix. 

The blurb says "flicker free", which is true, provided you keep above about 50% brightness.  You'll need to keep it full anyway because, well, it's not very bright.

It has a variable colour temperature, which might be handy, except you don't know what it is-- just something between daylight and tungsten, and any given colour setpoint changes colour temperature when you change the dimming level.  

The colour rendition is not awful, but it's not great either.  The blurb says CRI = 85%.  It has a distinct yucky LED cast, which is somewhat mitigated by putting the colour temperature control midway.

As others have said, it's flimsy.  Clearly built to a (low) price point, and it shows.  Too bad it's poorly engineered too.

Pass on this one.  Save your money and frustration.

Disappointing junk

I recommend only because it works well if you buy a battery.  You can buy a plug in cord but the cord restricts portability.  The battery is expensive.  Cost is over a ($).  There may be a cheaper one out there but I bought a Sony.  Cost for the battery was more expensive than the Light Panel itself.  In fairness I received the Light Panel as part of a camera purchase package.  Three stars only because of the battery.  Otherwise, four stars.

This flash is useless: no battery and no charger was included. It can't be used at all.

The pictures wrongly shows attached battery which is absent. So, the ads and the price are just fooling customers.

I bought this as part of beginner set for vlogin and after that I realized that the battery is not included.

Useless out of box. No battery/charger, should be included in kit (include a model that can use AA batteries).  I have the 160 model, can use 6 AA batteries as an option.  Wanted to use second unit for better light control.

I'm a professional photographer and videographer

Several months ago, I needed a very small battery powered LED panel for some macro/micro video projects. This was so inexpensive that I grabbed one, along with the higher output battery and charger (you need those).

I was amazed at how much output this little light puts out, I was wondering if 1100 lux would be enough and it definitely is if you're doing small products and need a light that can get into small places.

I'm back to buy two more, why? Well, so I can put these lights inside, next to and behind my subjects. Adjusting the warmth of the light is a huge bonus. The battery lasts for hours with the light set to its highest output, I did not expect that... you will notice there are two battery options in the accessories listing, get the more expensive one!

I use photo clips with the 1/4 20 thread adapters and this light goes perfectly on those and it's light enough that you don't need a Heavy Duty clamp to hold them up. Get them OFF your camera and do some creative lighting. No wires, no limits, light that scene!

Adorama! IF you're reading this, I would love to have more slide in filter options, the included diffuser is nice, but if you made some in Amber, Red, and Blue, you would really have a creative kit here! We had to video some bats and needed RED lights so as not to disturb them, so we just had to apply translucent paint to thin plexi-glass panels, BUT would have purchased filter kits if you offered them.

I like the included hot-shoe adjustable adapter, but as I've already suggested, either get a bracket/rig for your camera that gets this off your camera for better (not flat front) lighting in your photos and video. 

If you are a nature video or photographic enthusiast, get several of these and put them in your backpack, clip them to tree branches etc, your images will stand out from virtually all others!

In closing, I will simply attach a video I recently did of honey bees INSIDE their hive. BIG lights would never have worked here!

Great Light, Nice to have adjustable output.   But, did not come with Battery.  Lucky I have Batteries that go with my HDR-AX2000 Cam - they work just fine.

This particular piece is extremely flimsy, and cheaply made. It does not come with the needed battery ($) or adapter.

Nice product

I really like this light. It is well made, lightweight, not too small-not too big, has good output and the variable temperature is a very nice feature to have. I use it on a flip bracket above the camera so that , if I am shooting stills, I can flip the camera to portrait position. It has enough output to help with shadows outside in the shade and is very good as a video light. It cannot, however, compete with the sun outside and I wish it had a wider output angle. It is wide enough for a 35mm lens on full frame, however. I think the price is a bargain, but you do have to buy a charger separately.

Awesome product for the price

Don't be fooled by the low price!  If you need a small, low profile, on camera lighting solution, this is the light for you!  This light is at least as good as a similar "Popular, Leading Brand" LED selling for over four times the price.  The light fits comfortably on any camera's accessory shoe without adding too much bulk or weight.  

The Shoe mount seems to be made of durable plastic and has a 1/4-20 thread, allowing the user to mount it on a ball head or light stand.  The housing has 3 accessory shoes built in, to easily accommodate wireless receivers and shotgun microphones.

The power/dimmer control and the color temperature dial are conveniently positioned allowing the user to change the setting with minimal effort.

Depending on your camera's sensitivity and settings, under normal conditions, at full power this light can easily illuminate a subject 8 to 12 feet away. 

The light is powered with Sony Type NPF series batteries and the battery level gauge is a nice included feature so you can estimate how much power is left.  With the included NP-F550 battery fully charged, I was able to power this light at full for almost 4 hours of continuous use.  

This light is a "must have" accessory for every photographer or videographer!  As an event and documentary videographer,  I would not want to go to work without this light!

Exceptional Product at Value Price

The light itself is very cool.  It works as advertised, both dimmer and color temperature controls.  I like that it has a removable, rechargeable Lithium battery, but there is no included charger.  I don't own a charger that fits it, so now I'll have to buy one.
