Great Value

The pistol grip is super sturdy and easy to use. Mounts well with my canon 50D gripped.

Use as base only

The base is too thick to begin with. The screw is the larger 3/8 screw so i can only be used between the tripod and the head and not between the head and the camera as stated. If they change the screw to the smaller 1/4 screw then i can be use between the head and the camera. Pity the designer miss it out so i have to return it.

Took some getting used to but works fine

By

I really like this head now but it did take some getting used to. It is a bit awkward in feel. I had to use a set of pliers to tighten the tension knob. (the tension knob keeps the head in position once the grip is released). There was no possible way that this could have been done by hand strength alone. I am using it as a studio head. If I were traveling with it, the grip handle might sick out too much and create a space problem in my bag. For the money, it works great.

it took forever to receive this stupid pistol grip..then I could not ind the order on my account so I ordered it again, three different times.. it is not sturdy at all...it gives one the feeling that the entire tripod will fall over....and it did breaking a good lens

Sports only!

By

I'm not sure what went behind this design. The adjustable grip lock is cool, but the whole thing sits on a swivel mount that doesn't lock in place, and is wobbly loose when you bump the camera. It seems like this head would be good for sports photography with the pan of the swivel for following constantly changing action, but horrible for lock down situations. And the grip handle position is awkward, if not just wrong.

Outstanding product.

A most flexible tripod head. Gives me all of the different options I need and expect in heads that are much more expensive. The ability to mount a second camera to this head is the best yet !!!!!

Questions about this item:

Jim S  I have just bought this head and was wondering how to lock the round plate at the bottom of this picture down? It rotates and I can't stop it from turning.
THOMAS M  As far as I can tell, it was designed that way, that's why I returned mine. It is an advantage if you are following moving objects, but for still life shots, it's worthless. It should lock, I saw no way of locking it.
Gary B  does this interoperate with Flashpoint F-2127 Version II Carbon Fiber Tripod, 3 Section Leg Set, Supports 17.6 lbs., Maximum Height 57"?
MARGOT G  yes it does but it is a terrible addition and I hate it....its very unstable and I never use it...went back to quick handle twist and turn
