this is great to light up unwanted shadows and add light to backlit subjects. The gold side has a great warming effect!

I use this reflector outside to reduce contrast on models faces. This can mean using the golden side to shine additional light to their face, or blocking sunlight from reaching them in the first place. I am in California, so the midday sunlight is quite harsh and the unaltered contrast is beyond what most sensors can handle. The product itself is excellent, but I would probably recommend going larger than 22". This reflector folds down and is incredibly portable, and for adding light 22" is sufficient, but to block light you probably want something a little larger. Not a knock on the product -- it claims to be 22" and it is -- but if you use it like I do you may find the small size to be too limiting.
