I use the product for a photobooth at a recent event. It worked well for the most part. I hated that the light itself doesn't rotate. If I wanted the light lowered, I had to adjust the tripod. It was pretty annoying, and I probably wouldn't have purchased the product if I would have known that. Overall though, the light is bright and works really well!

The base is plastic. My first one broke, but I had bought 2 spare bulbs. So I bought another. Just be careful putting up and taking down.

The connector to lightstand broke off when tightened lightly. Now I need to rig it to make it work.

I mount this on a light stand, and the Octa box sets up in a jiffy. Nice soft lighting for head shots.

The plastic at the base that holds the metal ribs in place chipped off leaving about 4 ribs loose. I bought two of them and they both broke in the same manner. They lasted a week and a half. It is a great idea at a great price, but needs to be made of better materials. So for now I am giving this box a thumbs down rating.

• This 24" softbox is easy to assemble, just snap the hardware into place. No rods to struggle with, no speed rings to align with the rods. The unit uses flicker-free fluorescent, spiral bulb. The bulb is similar an energy saver bulb; it differs in that it is rated at 5500 degrees Kelvin; that is, it is daylight balanced. 70 watts in fluorescents translates into 350 watts of light output.
This long lasting "cool" light emits very little heat and can stay on all day long without a problem.
The Flashpoint Softbox can be used with Digital Cameras or Camcorders and is great for shooting portraits, or still life.
And, when you're done (after removing the bulb) the unit folds together easily like an umbrella.
Make sure not to use larger than 70 watt as they turn too hot
