Solid, standard quick release plate. Wish it had some resistance mechanism for better control and I had to add a separate balance bubble, but very decent price.

I have been using this product non stop since purchase. One of my best invenstments made. It's rock solid and easy to loosen and tighten. Tried other ball heads but they were never tight enough. The quick release takes time to get used to, being that it has to be oriented the right way. I'm going to search for more items made by flashpoint. Very satisfied indeed.

The ball head part is great...fairly smooth and heavy duty enough to support 10-15lbs (I would not put 30 like they say). Very good head for the money. However the quick release is finicky, difficult to get in, doesn't lock it in perfectly, and the plate screw on the bottom is not good. There is a small amount of movement even with the plate in so probably not a good head to get if you are shooting at extremely slow shutter speeds of say 1/15 of a second or slower. It is great for me with weddings, sports, portraits, and travel but I would go with a different head for landscape and night shooting. I also purchased the Bogen quick release plate and it is much better so get that for sure...makes it much better.

I was looking for another Ball Head for my monopod. I wanted the F2 model but it was not in stock at the time of my ordering and it was unknown when the item would be available again. As an alternative the F9 was suggested. I ordered it with the hopes that it would fit my F2 Quick Release Plates. I was happy to find that the F2 and the F9 plates are identical and are interchangeable.

It took me a while to get use to a ball head over the standard tilt head, but I like it. I got tired of moving it from my Flashpoint tripod to my monopod, so I bought a second one. I leave one mounting plate on my DSLR and the other on my video camera. They're easy to use and my cameras sit very secure.

I would rate this mount good, not great. Very compact and light for travel and backpacking. Ballhead is secure and can hold a DSLR with maybe up to a 2lb lens. This mount will not hold 40lbs securely. With a large lens like an 80-400 (4lbs), I get slippage. The plate that connects to the camera can slip. Great if you have a lighter DSLR and lens and need to pack light for travel or hiking.

I have used this ball head and carbon monopod in conservatories and history centers where heavy human foot traffic prohibits the use of a tripod. The spherical (multi-rotational) adjustment is not dampened in any way and so it is touchy. It releases suddenly when the lock is loosened. Recommended with reservations about non-dampened rotational action.

I love the lever! (I previously had a knob and disliked that....) Very easy to adjust to any angle. Camera is secure... Great all around!!

This head works great on smaller cameras but my camera with 400mm lens needs more support.

I am thinking of returning it. It's weak and the quality is fair at best

The quick release is anything but quick. It's a rather poor design that does not automatically center the shoe in the mount as most others do, and it takes two hands to use. Otherwise, this is a decent ball head for the price and is very light weight.

Excellent ball head. I had problems on deciding which ball head to choose. I do landscape, portraits, and some macro photography and wanted to upgrade from my pan and tilt. This works great and can be adjusted to still allow movement unlike a pistol grip. It is strong with precision construction. Excellent product at an excellent price.

I returned this after finding that no matter how hard I tightened it down, the nikon d300 would still move.

This is a very sturdy, well made ball head, that can handle the weight of a pro-level camera and super telephoto with no problem. It does not have all the bells and whistles of more expensive models but is everything I need at a great price
