I could not have been happier with this tripod... until it broke. After looking inside the leg and looking at the broken leg clamp - it seems obvious that this tripod was never meant to last a long time.

Seems feeble at times, but can be very useful if you are careful, not to be abused.

I like to go light. For under $150 this is a good carbon fiber tripod. Do not expect $400 to $600 quality. I have to always check and tighten down the leg nuts with the hex tool, since they loosen and the legs can slip. I like this tripod since it is very light and compact. Great for travel and hiking. As long as you can live with regularily checking the legs and tightening them down, this is a good value for the money.

It's a great tripod with one minor draw back..one of the lock is not tight so the leg tends to slide. Overall, great tripod.

This is my second one. I'd love this tripod if they'd just get better leg clamps. I need to use tape to hold legs open.

Flashpoint F-2228==I received this tripod about two weeks ago. Have used it on five photo sessions, it's set up as fast, easily supports 5d mii camera and 400mm lens. It is light weight to carry and rock solid. I would highly recommend this to any photographer who is looking to lighten your load.

This is fairly lightweight compared to cheaper models and inexpensive for those who want carbon fiber but cant afford a 400 tripod. This has worked great so far. Only want for it would be a bubble set onto the attachment plate

This tripod is easy to carry on trips and is so useful for landscapes, night/early morning shooting, wildlife. At home, I use it for household shots: portraits, products and just fun!

I've been using a sturdy but heavey Davis&Sanford tripod since the Eighties. I bought the F-2228 so that I can take it along when I travel by bike (pedal style). The F-2228 comes with a case making it perfect for this.

I added rubber pipe insulation to two legs to make it more comfortable on my shoulders. The tripod is very sturdy, easy and fast to set up and break down and has adequate height for a tall person. It is a bit heavy.

I wish I bought the tripod with the twist locks instead of the flip type. They always catch on branches, grass, and everything else.

After much research for a really good tripod on my limited budget, I decided on the Flashpoint F-2228. The instructions lost a bit in the English version and said nothing about checking that all the screws and nuts were fastened tightly. It worked great in Yosemite and I loved this tripod! Unfortunately, I hadn't tightened all the screws and nuts and the lower small leg on one of the tripod's legs was pulled off in a swampy lake. But, now comes the really great part. [...]

Two of the leg tips fell off but were easily fixed with super glue. Tripod should be thoroughly checked during Adorama's return-for-refund period. The center pole is metal, not carbon fiber. Two adjustment wrenches are included and can be stored in the convenient pouch inside the storage bag, which is also surprisingly good quality. It's a solidly constructed store-brand tripod which lacks prestige-brand status. It was originally claimed to hold 22 lbs. I would definitely buy another one if needed and highly recommend it for those who aren't concerned about brand-name image.

I am on my second 2228. The first lost a rubber foot and after 6 months, Adorama refunded my money with no problem. I missed the light weight and quick set up so I purchased another. Two feet came out when I got it so I epoxied them in to stay and look forward to using this lightweight and stable product. I shoot lots of wildlife with 70-400 heavy zoom lens and it works.

The tripod is much better than my old '80's vintage aluminum Velbon. It collapes smaller, weighs less (3.6 lb vs 4.5 lb), and can be configured in more ways. It is stiff enough and I appreciate being able to hang a gallon of water from it to stabilize it in the wind. However, the bag is not big enough to accept the tripod with my Gioto ball head installed, no matter how I twist the ball head. Had the bag been another inch or so longer, it would have worked. The bag does seem to be of reasonable quality and have the necessary features.

This tripod is not worth the money. The flip locks broke on the first photo trip and are now almost impossible to close. Some of the flip locks are close to falling off. The tripod itself is really not that solid, and any nudge can send a vibration through the whole tripod (and shake your camera). There is no product warranty. Even though it is cheap ("you get what you pay for"), it's not worth the money. If you can't afford a Gitzo or Bogen carbon fiber tripod, then buy a good aluminum tripod for the same money.

OK, I had mixed feelings on buying this tripod. It seemed like it had a lot of the features of the $400+ tripods but without the $400+ price, and no real reviews that gave good information. So far it has met my expectations. It holds my Canon with a 75-300mm lens very securely. Some other nice features are the ability to invert the center column for low level shooting. Also, the hook on the bottom of the center column is great. Put a caribbeaner on your bag and hang it off the hook and this tripod is not going anywhere! The only real gripe I have is that one of the leg locks did not hold tightly but the tension screw just needed adjusting - but no allen key that was to be included! It was a simple enough fix but would have been nice to have the tool that was supposed to come with it. Overall, a good tripod.

I selected the F2228 over the F1228 because of the higher loading capability. Thus, the Tripod weighs a bit more but I do not see that as a negative.

In order to make it easy to carry on one's shoulder, I recommend installing Armorflex pipe insulation on two legs. The instructions that came with the tripod are undecipherable. They were written by someone with not basic understanding of English. None the less, what is there to know about a tripod.

The best feature is its light weight construction; overall build and feel is okay though.

After only using this tripod a couple of times one leg started to slip and would not stay locked in position. [...]

I am using this tripod w/ the F3 ballhead. I didnt have that much to spend but wanted a carbon fiber tripod. I am more than happy the way it folds in and out and the weight since I'll be using it for hiking. It fits fine in the bag with the head angled.

When it comes to shooting cityscapes, the time to do it is after sunset or before sunrise. Too many photographers pack up their gear at sunset and head home, but the most dramatic shots are still waiting for you.

• Adorama has studied for many years the needs and wants of the beginner, advanced and professional photographer. All the equipment that bears the Flashpoint name meets these essential qualifications, equipment that is dependable at a fair price. The Flashpoint Carbon Fiber Tripods are yet another fine example that follows in the Flashpoint tradition; high quality tripods that can go the distance. Made to Adorama's specifications, you'll feel the quality the first time you set it up. Leg locks that work! They open and close with ease. Pride of ownership is only a small reason to have one of these fine tripods in your equipment bag.
• Featuring classic European Styling, these Flashpoint tripods have all the features of other carbon fiber tripods, except the high price. Besides its legendary light weight, carbon fiber does not transfer heat like aluminum, but does absorb vibrations. This feature helps to insure sharper images.
• All Flashpoint tripod legs have rubber double-grip twist locks. The center column can be separated into a low column for ground level use. The supplied wrench can adjust the leg friction to match the photographers needs. Leg tips can be set with either a rubber pad or ground spike for rugged terrain.
