Clumsy in actual use....

Purchased to use on photo safari where weight limits prohibited use of tripod. After arriving, I cut off the permanently attached strap (why is this here? Perhaps to make it more frustrating to adjust in the field?) and ran it through it's paces. I would have preferred the flip locks, as they are easy to adjust, but this model was not available except in the twist locks. Clumsy is giving it the benefit of a doubt, as it takes two hands to open and adjust the twist locks, which is a lot of fun...

I would have preferred the flip locks, as they are easy to adjust, but this model was not available except in the twist locks. Clumsy is giving it the benefit of a doubt, as it takes two hands to open and adjust the twist locks, which is a lot of fun with a DSLR and long lens attached. Unfortunately, I can't give it much of an "in use" review, it came apart the first time I took it out of my pack in Kenya. When it is in 3 pieces, it is even more difficult to use. I am sending it back, requesting a repair or replacement.... we will see. I don't have a lot of experience with Adorama, (they are not my #1 supplier) so expect the worse and hope for the best. The unit is on sale now (it figures!), and if I can't get it fixed quickly, I may opt for the 55" with flip locks.....

Good shaft but shoddy fittings

By

This is okay for the price, but on mine there's a loose part in one of the clamps and it's unreliable whether it's going to lock/unlock or not when I turn it. Wouldn't purchase again.

Great Monopod, Easy Fast Length Changes

By

from Chatham, NJ  -  Photo Enthusiast

For when you can't use a tripod, this monopod is lightweight, allows rapid length changes and setup, good stability indoors and out, and, although I haven't tested many monopods, I suspect that it would be difficult to beat the Flashpoint UC204 at its price point. I bought this slightly longer model that's roughly eye level for me, somewhat more stable than smaller monopods while adding very little in weight. The perfect monopod for me.

Exceptional monopod.

Plan to use this on a trip to India in the fall. It should prove easy to utilize as I move thru the crowds at the Pushkar festival.
