Bright Lightweight and a Good Buy

Very lightweight for transport w/o batteries. Light Dimmer works great. Light output impressive. Light stand / Hot Shoe mount works yet could be sturdier. An intelligent way to light your video without the heat of studio lights or still photos without a flash. Suggest a bundle of the alternate rechargable camcorder battery with the light vice 6 AA batteries. Promote Green.

Nice and bright.

from Arlington Heights,Illinois

I occasionally need some extra light for Macro shooting. This fits the bill. You can use it on the camera or attach it to a tripod or stand. (with an inexpensive optional adapter) I like the variable output and the fact that is uses rechargeable batteries. (sold separately) Works for me! Although I don't shoot video, it would be good for that, too. An inexpensive solution to low light levels during Macro photography.

Great light, just dont drop it!

I dropped the light and the latch on the back door break! Anyone know where to purchase just the door? Sure would be nice!!!

does the job

from Pburg, NJ

Have not put it to the test yet, but gave it a try and works well. Good for video taking too. Looks cheap with AA batteries exposed. Yes it is fragile so not intended for rough handling. Was very disappointed with packaging so suggest you pick it up at the store. Soft box was placed inside a bubble envelope so I got the box smashed in the corner, was lucky no damage to product. No FRAGILE LABLE on envelope either. Think Adorama should look into their packaging system.

bright light

from Friendswood Tx  -  Film Professional

Bright light - lightweight -low cost - easy to use - like the dimmer. Flimsy mount construction = batteries go down quickly - cannot store with batteries - worth what you pay for it - use it regulary

Flashpoint LED Light

from Toledo, Oh  -  Tech Savvy

Use is for lightpainting. Works great. Only concern was 6 alkaline batteries went bad after first use. I thought switch was off and it still happened but not sure and don't want to "test" it again with batteries, so I remove them after use.

awesome light

from New York City  -  Film Professional

To provide lighting in low light situations for interviews, parties, weddings...that tyoe of environment. Quick, bright light...uses SONY NPF batteries or 6AA...I like the sony rechargable batteries because i don't have to keep on buying AA batteries. On the down side plastic housing and plastic tighteners which you need to constantly tighten

Where Batteries Go To Die

from North Georgia  -  Tech Savvy

The light is mostly what I expected at this price point. What I did not expect was the fact that you have to remove the batteries before you put the light away. If you leave the batteries in it the batteries will be dead the next time you try to use the light. Yes, the unit drains batteries even while it is turned off.

Nice Bright Light but unusual problems

from Macy, IN  -  Technically Challenged

I brought and though it was great light output, I used with 6 "AA" alkaline batteries better than Ni-MH batteries because of different brightness to brightest just comparison. Punched about 100 to 150 watt of incandescent lamp as refer to. Pretty nice bright delivery... Couple weeks later, I get notices when I packed away for week and realized most of batteries died were left alone for awhile. Changed with new set of batteries and did happen again when stored. Repeated twice. Hmmm... There is something wrong with circuitry. Another problem which is battery cover for installing with 6 "AA" batteries mentally ill closed-in the lid. Little a bit sticky out which is stand-out. It may not fully secure. Tried with diffuse and make different lighting appearance. Look great but I likes it for video. No, I haven't tried with camcorder battery. Cons: Not available with power supply plug-in (or power input).

I would not buy this LED light again

from McLean, Virginia  -  Aspiring Film Maker

Flashpoint 160 LED video light is inexpensive and quite powerful, but suffers from a major flaw - the batteries quickly run down if they are left in the unit, even though the light is switched off. Thus the unit is usuable only if the 6 AA batteries are taken out after use every time. This is a big nuisance. An additional flaw, a minor one, is that the battery cover plate only partially covers the batteries, making for an untidy appearance. I subsequently bought a Bescor 96 LED light available from B&H for only $10 more, and prefer this to the Flashpoint. My experience with Flashpoint accessories is that, while they are always inexpensive, some are very good and some are poorly designed and constructed. The Flashpoint 160 LED video light falls into the second categories, I am afraid.

KAREN C  You do not need to put this LED light on any camera to work. Install batteries, turn it on. That's it. Just be careful of the mount. It is fragile and breaks easily.
