Great at first, until it leaks

This wrist rest was terrific at first - it worked great and looked wonderful. Then the gel starting leaking out. At first just a little out of one side, so I put some scotch tape over it and that sort of worked. Then it started leaking a LOT, the seam/adhesion between the top-gel part and the flat bottom separated. The gel inside is VERY sticky. It leaked out and onto my wrist/hand and shirt sleave, stuck to that and then spread onto the top of the gel pad and finally my desk. It was impossible to wipe it off of my sleave so that began sticking to the desk after I tossed the wrist rest. It will wash out, but it definitely created a mess. My original fellowes wrist rest without the picture is twice as old and I've never had any similar problems. That gel seems more solid while this one is more fluid/liquid.
