As with previous generations, the Gary Fong Lightsphere® Collapsible Speed Mount will continue to provide photographers with the ability to achieve studio-style lighting effects, anywhere at anytime. Collapsing down to a mere 1½ inch thickness, this new addition to the Gary Fong line-up will make traveling with large lighting set-ups a thing of the past. Better yet, the new Lightsphere® Collapsible Speed Mount boasts the newly designed mounting system which allows photographers to securely attach and switch out modifiers in seconds. Once in place, photographers can rest assured that the Lightsphere® Collapsible Speed Mount will stay securely in place, offering an equally tight fit for nearly all flash sizes.
The new Speed Snoot, with the same collapsible design and patented mount found in the Lightsphere® Collapsible Speed Mount, gives photographers maximum efficiency and directional control over strobe lighting when mounted off-camera, allowing one to create cutting edge, "fashion style" special effects. The black finish of the Speed Snoot blocks the light spilled out of the sides of the diffuser so instead of filling a room with soft light, the photographer can project the light directly onto the subject with a controlled yet soft burst that is great for hair highlighting, selective lighting of subjects, or highlighting a subject against a busy background. In other words, the Speed Snoot allows you to focus light into the areas you want to highlight, and more importantly away from the areas you don't.
Whether a photographer is shooting a backyard wedding, a senior portrait session or products for advertising, these latest additions to the Gary Fong line-up will make strenuous set-ups and toting around large lighting equipment a thing of the past. The travel-friendly qualities and clever design of the Lightsphere® Collapsible Speed Mount and Speed Snoot are sure to make these diffusors staples of gear bags everywhere.

This is my second Lightsphere. My first Lightsphere worked OK but would fall off my flash. I thought I would give the updated version a try. Seems to stay on the flash much better. I use Sto-fen and Gary Fong diffusers really can't tell much difference in the real world between the two. The current version of the Lightsphere is an improvement over earlier versions but the performance for the price may not be worth it.
Very simple to use and produces good results.
First this the best Lightsphere that Gary has put out yet. Use this when shooting events and I really like the light quality compared to all the past models. I know Gary referred this as a "5th generation Lightsphere" but this really should be considered the 6th generation. 3rd generation of the collapsible models. Maybe no one noticed this but the first collapsible had a different mounting system that was vertical shark teeth for the grip and was thinner more transparent making it easier for the light to distribute through the sides and easier fold up. The next collapsible (recently discontinued) had horizontal ribbing for the grip mount and was made of a bit thicker material meaning tougher to collapse and didn't scatter as much light as the previous one did due the thicker material and a pain to put on larger flash heads like the SB900/910. Enter the the Speed Mount. Much easier to mount on any flash now that Gary has incorporated the velcro strap system from his Universal Lightspheres and being how the collapsible model is already made of rubber eliminates the need of the rubber band placed on the flash head to keep it on the flash head. It appears Gary went back to making the Speed Mount model thinner (like the shark tooth model previously mentioned) meaning it is easier to fold up and gives better light distribution through the sides. The reason I know this is because I've owned all of them so I think I can make review that is fair in comparing them. The Lightsphere Speed Mount is truly the best of both worlds. It has the easy mounting capability of the previous Universal Lightsphere models, the collapsible part that makes it compact and easy to store in your camera bag. It scatters the light more like the Universal Half-Cloud Lightsphere making the images more evenly lit with the exception that the Lightsphere Speed Mount gives you better color rendering. Like all Lightspheres it has beautiful wrap around light that other light modifiers just don't have.
