Hardware is good, software is awful
I purchased this to replace a dead Squeezebox v3. I absolutely loved that device. I was hoping this device would be able to fill the Squeezebox v3's shows and am frustratingly disappointed. When I can get it playing, the sound quality is good, I don't hear much difference between the players running through my Ascend Acoustic CMT-340's.
But the difference is the software. The Squeezebox software was polished, easy to use, and performed well with a library of 6k audio files. The software Grace Digital produces for this player is clunky, doesn't even run on my iPad v2, and the device always stutters when starting up a song. It's disappointing.
So to Grace Digital, I propose a fix for this device. There is potential here. You've got a good hardware platform. All you need is a software platform. Make your device compatible with the Logitech Media Server. It was conceived open source, and still is open source. You will make this so-so device a viable alternative for many audiophiles wanting a replacement for their much loved Squeezebox.
