Tri-Flow is your friend and it makes this tool better. Getting the pliers out takes some getting used to compared to the 600 series but after some practice the tool does work one handed. The deployment of the pliers is my only gripe. I have five of these Gerbers now and a SOG. This Diesel is solid and I'll report back after a while when I've broken something on it. Thank god this one doesn't have the stupid carbide cutters. They shatter like glass and my 20+ year old Gerber cut the same wire without issue to finish out the day.

Bought my first Gerber 30-years a ago. Went on every fishing trip cutting line and fixing outboards and reels along the way, never let me down. I broke the blade on a trip one day using it as a pry bar, not good. Gerber replaced it and my warn out case with the same model. Plus they let me keep the old one, in my tackle box as a back. No charge. Thank your Gerber

Bought my first Gerber Diesel to replace a Leatherman. Loved the locking tools. Used it for decades. Finally it simply needed to be replaced. Just received my NEW GERBER DIESEL in the mail and am thrilled it's just as good as the original. I have a saying; "If I can't fix it with my pocket tool I call a mechanic."

I purchased this tool as a replacement to my original Gerber that I lost when on the job. I was really disappointed loosing my tool as I had it since what seems like the 1990's. I expected this one to do everything that my original one did and it doesn't disappoint. Since it has all the tools of my original, I look for to years of service. The five start rating I give it is also for my original.

I really wanted to love this tool. It is nearly perfect. Unfortunately, they chose to use a version of stainless steel that is both magnetic and subject to rust in a marine environment. Please offer one in true 316 stainless.

My college roommate convinced me to impulse-purchase this piece about a decade ago. At the time I had buyer's remorse, but that was mainly because I was a broke college kid. I still use the diesel often, easily worth the money spent long ago! I camp, hike, backcountry ski, boat, etc, with this tool and couldn't be more pleased. It's still in great shape with absolutely zero signs of rust. Functions as it should. I expect this thing to go another ten years.

I bought this tool looking for a simple multi tool. it has the basics of wha you need for most day to day life. The phillips screw driver i found to work in both # 1 and 2 screws well. the flats will also fit phillips head screws in a pinch. i have no use for the lanyard tool or the can opener. Its time Gerber makes a muti tool that you can customise yourself. If they sell the parts we will buy them

Love the tool except for 2 quirks: Lanyard ring is impossible to swing out without using another tool to grab it and fold it out. The sheath will not accommodate the tool with the lanyard ring deployed; the flap will not close as securely as when the lanyard ring is stowed.

I'm going on 4 years with my Diesel and it's become part of the family. I've had this in my construction truck and it has handled some absurd tasks. I finally broke one of the carbide blades and its pretty cool being able to replace those. Bottomline, this thing is a beast!

Fantastic tool, most used in my collection by far. Unfortunately I've broken the plier tip on both the ones I've had, everything else still works perfectly, can't seem to find any spare parts though.

This my second Gerber Diesel. It's been stiff from the first time I opened it. I've had it for five years, and it still stiff. Never could flick it open. You have to pull out the nose part of the pliers. It will never come out any other way. My first set worked perfectly, but I lost those now I'm stuck with a bad multi-tool.. They are still made well, but don't function correctly.

I bought one in 29 palms in 2009, used it in Afghanistan 2009 and 2010 best tool i ever had, still use it every day. just he tip of the knife broke but very strong tool

I purchased my Diesel back in 2004. Used it at work every day. Great multi tool. Used it for all the things I should have and then sometimes for thing I shouldn't have. This was a workhorse multi tool. I broke the tip of the needlenose pliers off when I really need a bigger tool. But I have done it so many times in the past. I pushed it over the edge and then some. Sent it in for warranty repair. They sent me a brand new multi tool. Very happy with Gerber backing up their warranty. Nice to see a company stand behind their product. GREAT JOB GERBER!!!!!
