At 66 years of age and having always had an infatuation with knives. I have carried a knife everyday most of my life. So I have used many. This holds securely clipped on my pocked. When I reach for it it loads in my right hand ready to use and the blade is easily deployed, Locked in place, and easily stowed. It easily slides and clips back in my pocket. I have carried this model for years now. The first couple in the early days the lock broke. But Gerber replaced it right away and they seem to have fixed the broken lock issue as I have had this last one for a few years now. I bought another to keep as a back up just incase it gets misplaced. The only down side is that Gerber does not make a reverse model for my left hand.

I have use this knife daily for over 10 years. Holds a sharp edge longer than most blades I have used in the past.

I like this knife and as proof, I've had three of them over more than a decade and am about to buy my fourth. It's easy to carry, comfortable to use, and it does most anything you'd need a pocket knife for. I would still have my first one if it weren't for the same failure of the others, the tiny little spring that locks the blade. When it fails, the blade swings open, but it doesn't lock, but rather it just swings unchecked which, if it catches you by surprise, might result in an injury. I would happily pay half as much or more again for the next one if this spring were to be upgraded to that of a quality comparable to the rest of the knife.

Does this use nylon washer or bearings on blade for easy opening. Think the knife has a possible problem for blade travel. Very happy with the knife. functions exactly as described. but i do feel metal rubbing when closing the blade. 2/3rd closed the grinding happens.

Lock In Lock Out How many times have you cut a finger or had a blade not lock. The assisted open is just like a switch blade. Switch blade press a button and out lock. Where this one press on a pin and it snaps out and locks. Even with My fat fingers this little switch blade like knife is cool and with a few flips its open quicker than the eye can see.

I bought mine back in 2008 and have never regretted it. IMHO Gerber makes the best mass-produced knives in America. I'd rate the ergonomics of this knife 7-out-of-10, but only because of the overall flatness of the textured scales. The blade's keen edge lasts, and whet stone touch-ups are not difficult. The blade's assisted opening is still as crisp as the day I bought it, and the blade lock still works perfectly. This knife would be worth the money at twice the current price!

I bought mine in 2006, like Rudy below. But # 22-47161 with the serrated half blade. And, love this knife.

This is my second fast draw. Had the first for 4 years without a problem. I would still be using it if I had not lost it.

Bought one of these in 2006 ; they must have been pretty new back then. Used it almost every day ; lost it three times and miraculously found it back each time. I beat the snot out of that knife and it never skipped a beat. Mar 2016 I decided to get another one since first one had such sentimental value ; didn't want to risk losing it again. I had the second one 3 months ; pulled it from my pocket and dropped it on the kitchen floor (less than 30"). The internal mechanism broke! Whatever Gerber did to the newer version, they need to UNDO it for this one. Sure, Gerber will replace the broken one but I want a good, tough, reliable knife ; not one that I need to send it for replacement every 3-6 months! Come on Gerber, don't fix something that isn't broken! Go back to the early version.
