Light weight and beautiful.

A friend gave this knife to me as a gift , the more I examine it the better it gets . It's beautiful and sexy. And Gerber is known for its quality. Love it .

Superlative production quality

The most perfectly aligned liner lock I've ever seen. Pretty amazing on a production knife that retails for less than $20.

first knife

this was my first boy scout knife probably 15 years ago and i still use it today. the locking system is very strong making it impossible to accidentially open, making it ideal for kids getting used to working with a knife. I recommend this knife to parents who wish to get their kids an inexpensive and solid knife.

Perfect Sized Pocket Tool

Purchased this Paraframe Mini folder to replace a 15 year old Gerber I lost mountain biking. It covers all the requirements I need for an everyday carry knife and feels like it's well built for its price point. It's slightly smaller than my old knife and fits in my pocket a bit more unobtrusively. The clip on the Paraframe Mini also clamps to my pocket tighter than the old one which should keep it quite secure. The blade is tight when open with no play in it, and the locking mechanism which is part of the frame is robust. It appears there are two nylon bushings holding the blade snuggly in the frame so I put a small amount of non-detergent turbine oil on the hinge to get it to break in smoothly. I hope to be able to keep this new knife for at least 15 years like the old one. The limited lifetime warranty is a big plus.

Beware of the blade lock failure

Carried this knife for several months without issue. Lightweight design made for easy pocket carry. However frame lock distorted allowing the blade to close without warning. No longer in use. Will contact Gerber for remedy under warranty.

A Fine Piece of Equipment (Paraframe Mini - Stainless, Plain Edge) 4660420A

First of all I would like to address the issue of the locking mechanism being too hard to unlock. Right out of the package it was very hard to close. But, I applied some quality oil in minuscule amounts to the contact points of the blade and mechanism and practiced opening and closing the knife about 50 times. Now it opens and closes like a dream! Just work it, people!! I am extremely happy with this knife all the way from packaging to blade design, engineering, quality, and usability. Also, it comes with a lifetime warranty! You cannot possibly go wrong with this knife. I highly recommend it!!

Nice but not Scout friendly - lock is to stiff

Bought a Paraframe Mini with clip point tonight for my 9 year old Webelos Scout. I couldn't open it at the store as there was no display knife so I bought it thinking no biggie. Wrong. At first glance I thought this would be a great knife for him and later this year, for his younger brother who will be working on his knife badge as well as other young Scouts. I was hoping this would be easier for him to open than the first knife I bought him, more of an old time jack knife design. It opens easily which was great but trying to release the lock is a literal pain. He didn't have the thumb strength to push the lock over to release it. Heck even my thumb was sore and dented from unlocking it. It's a shame as it's a nice little knife for smaller hands, it seems well built and that it has a pocket clip is a nice feature. Looking at the design I think the lock beam is to short compared to how far it has to mover latterly, basically there isn't enough leverage. To me that goes down to bad engineering design. I'll toss this in one of my gear bags or the truck glove box but my hunt continues for an easy to use youth knife.

Resilient

I lost this knife for over 3 years in northern Minnesota and found it recently it has survived hail, rain, and tons of snow when I found it it had almost no rust and was just as sharp as when I lost it

Mr

Found two minis at a gun show in excellent condition. Fit just right in jeans watch pocket without any discomfort. My favorite carry is a CRKT LAKE 111 model lockback in back pocket.

Broken Paraframe Mini

I've purchased maybe a half dozen of these little knives and have carried one for several years. I end up giving them away as gifts. I've never had a problem with one, until recently. I pulled the little unit out of my pocket to use it as I have for some time now, only to find the blade would not lock open. It took me a minute to figure out what the problem was, which was that the lock was broken. Keep in mind this knife is all metal, and the blade lock is part of the frame as well. When I pushed the lock into the lock position, it broke free from the knife. Odd, at best. Then I read other reviews and find the problem isn't unique, it's happened to others. I've never had a problem with any of the others I've purchased so not sure why the problem is still showing up.

I have one purchased as Home Depot as part of a set (with the Gator Machete). In order to close it, I have to use a second knife to wedge open the frame to allow the blade to go down. Am I missing something?

Needed a new everyday knife that's small. This is a great knife for the price. It's small, compact and a fabulous design. Something for everyone.

The only knife a carry. Needs nothing. Perfectly simple and perfectly sized. I buy a new one every time I lose one. I need to stock up in case they quit making them.

Guitar-man

Great little knife, it's definitely not something that I would use as my general purpose knife since it's so small but it's great for when you don't want to bring a big knife into town and scare people. It's a beautiful knife, the rainbow oil stain goes great with the matte black frame, although the matte black paint gets scuffed easily (for those of you who keep your knives in meticulous shape). The blade curve is also practical, with a long straight part that ends in a semi abrupt curve to the point end. It is not spring assisted, but thumb studs are present on both sides of the blade for a quick opening as well as a finger stud on the back. My only complaint is that on of the thumb studs on my model fell off when I lent it to a friend. I'm not sure if this was due to a factory error or if he was just being rough with the knife.

awsome

Best everyday carry, utility knife I own. In fact I own 3. Right sized, right shaped, right priced. Stays reasonably sharp giving the use and abuse I put the thing though. And doesn't need a ton of time on the stones or steels to put the edge back on it either. A few passes on a ceramic rod is about all it ever takes for me to restore the edge. As for some of the complaints I've read, yes a thumb stud would be a great update. And as far as the open frame gathering up your keys and pocket change. Well that's what the clip is for. To keep the knife out of the garbage in the bottom of your pockets. Use it!
