I owned this exact knife for 17 years. First got it as a gift at 15. It lasted the whole time and stayed sharp. Never had any issues. I kept it on me at all times in my purse, but it was unfortunately confiscated when I was going to an event and didn't know there'd be metal detectors. Definitely buying again. Although this isn't my knife I had for 17 years, I trust it'll last me.

I bought this knife 5 years ago and loved it, I Even wrote a five star review of it. I liked it so much I bought A new one witch was supposed to be the same. When I got it I found that it was smaller and and the blade as well as the handle bid not have as thick steel. Why couldn't they just stick with a great design.

Bought my used small paraframes( 2) at a gun show. Both in excellent condition. Fits very nicely in jeans watch pocket without any discomfort and easily accessible. For larger knife carry a CRKT Lake 111 model lockback 3 inch blade in back pocket.

Since half these reviews are from people who found the knife, I thought I'd tip the scales. I also found mine while hiking in Arkansas. It was stuck right into a tree. I had an older version that was heavier and perhaps has a sturdier blade, but I like the handle of the new one. However, with 60% of these reviews coming from people who found these knives, it makes me wonder whether Gerber is going around leaving them places. Something to think about.

I found my Paraframe while hiking in the woods along an old path. It was about 75% buried in the dirt. Cleaned up nicely with no rust and only minor discoloration on the blade. Overall, I like this knife. It appears to be the older model. However, it does have a few things a buyer should consider. First, it truly holds it's edge, but also requires a serious sharpening/honing tool as the blade is very high carbon. Even then, I can get a respectable edge, but never "razor" sharp. Good balance of durability & sharpness for real field use. The point is a little obtuse for me, which makes getting a "needle-prick" point impossible. So, not really a stabbing/piercing tool so much. As others pointed out, the hinge & lock are somewhat stiff but not so much you cannot use them with one hand. A little light oil helps. The only other caution one needs to exercise with this knife is to be careful reaching into a pocket for it. The center cut-out in the handle is large enough for anyone's finger tip to fit through. The folded blade occupies the top half of that space. It is extremely easy to stick a finger tip into that hole and get a nasty slice if not paying attention! So remember to grab around the knife when fishing it of a pocket. I would suggest to Gerber that they consider making a slight modification in the shape of that center hole in future models. I own quite a few knives of all brands for all types of activities. While I cannot say this is my favorite, I can say it's one of my most used for general purposes because of its durability & long edge retention. Indeed, I keep it on the living room end table and use it daily.

Supposedly, these knives are identical, but they are not. I have two. One is much heavier that the other and less compact and convenient. I hate that one. The other is slim, active, sharp and perfect in most "pocket carry" ways. I would buy more of those. Caution is needed to find which is which.

This is my knife. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My knife is my friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My knife, without me, is useless. Without my knife, I am useless. I must use my knife true. I must cut straighter than my others who possess no skill. My knife and myself know that what we cut. We know that it is how we cut that matters. We will cut... My knife is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its grip and its blade. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my knife clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will... Before God, I swear this creed. My knife and myself are one. . We are the masters of our craft. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until we have no use for each other again!

I've had my praraframe for some years now. It's a really fine knife. Mine must be an earlier model because the logo looks like a sword stuck into a stone ; King Arthur style. It takes a little getting used to because it is an open frame and is stiff when new. The blade is of an excellent steel and holds an edge. Unobtrusive, I sometimes clip it inside a suit coat.

This knife has been my daily driver for maybe 6 or 7 years, and has seen very heavy daily use in an industrial parts shop as well as camping and whatnot. It is indestructible. It feels great in my hand and has the kind of balance and stability I find in my non-folding premium knives. It has been wet for extended periods, hammered, heated, twisted, used to pry, and abused in all kinds of ways--and shows no signs of wear. I have lost a couple of parts over the years, but in both cases I just dropped an email to customer service and they shipped replacement parts the same day! It holds an edge quite well and does not resist sharpening too much--i'd say it strikes a balance here. This knife has outlasted all other knives I have owned. As THE WHIZ said in an earlier review, I wish I could give 6 stars. **I would recommend doping the assembly hardware with thread locker and tweaking the pivot bolt to your preferred hinge stiffness.**

This knife is awesome! Carried with me every day for 2 years. Unfortunately my knife has been stolen and I am going to buy another one. Great knife, great memories.

I would give this knife a "6" if I could. Have owned it for 3+ years, carry it every day. It is useful for gardening, work, opening boxes, cutting ropes and vines, just about everything. Best pocket knife I have ever owned.
