The lack of quality control/assurance on this product is abundantly evident. The tool arrived with nicks and scratches on the anodized aluminum side covers. The tools are tight, stiff, and to varying degrees, difficult to deploy. I broke my thumbnail and slightly skinned my knuckle trying to extract the flat blade screwdriver. Finally getting it to open, I lubricated the pivot, first with WD40 (didn't help) and then with a drop of sewing machine oil, which didn't help either. Putting the blade in a vise and working the handle back and forth on its pivot about a hundred times also proved futile. Thus, on this sample anyway, the flat blade screwdriver may as well not be present, as it effectively cannot be opened for use. The other tools, including the pliers, are of mediocre quality and of course very light duty because of their small size. The knife blade was not adequately sharpened and required honing before use. After several tries, and with much force, I was able to cut insulated 12-gauge copper electical wire with the wire cutters, however in doing so the plier handles pinched the skin on the base of my index finger, leaving a pretty pair of small blood blisters. Probably 14 gauge copper wire is the limit for this tool. The small size of the tool is nice, as it fits unobtrusively in a pocket or purse. For very light duty applications this could be a very handy and convenient tool, but its poor quality renders it unacceptable, in my opinion. You might receive a better sample than I did, but frankly, I would recommend paying a bit more and looking at a similar Leatherman or other higher-quality brand.
