Easy and effective

I was having trouble getting prints to look like what I saw on the screens color Munkie was easy to install and my prints look great. It even adjusts for ambient light changes which, if you think about it, is just as important as color relationships. Very easy to install too.

Two monitors, two color variances.

I am both a photographer and designer. I work with two monitors. So far I have caibrated both my monitors twice in one week and the color is still different on both monitors. The change was very different from both times I calibrated them. If I am comparing the color on my monitor to a color proof the color is still off. I am not satisifed with the color calibration at all.

Buyer Beware-Not Compatible with Win 8.1

By

from NY Metro  -  Business User

I spent hours with X-rite support trying to resolve a software glitch from their software. Ultimately, it may be related to AMD vs Intel hardware. There is no documentation. There is no sound trouble shooting method. In X-rite defence it does work on a Win 7 pro machine, but my catalogue is not there!!

Software Crashes, No Documentation

By

from Inland Empire, CA  -  Photographer

I purchased this to replace a Huey model and I am now wishing I still had the Huey. The software wizard crashed the first time I tried to install. After a few more tries the software installed properly but the profiling procedure would crash after only a few color patches. The program has NO MANUAL. An online search found others with similar problems, and a workaround-- involves turning off some of the features I paid for. Finally able to profile the monitor after three hours. . . except that whenever the computer is restarted the profiling has to be done all over again. Profiles are still saved on the system, but are not put to use at startup. Am still trying to figure out what is going on. This product was a colossal waste of time and money.

Decent but with Issues

By

from Earth

I couldn't get the native software to work under Win7 x64, because it would not recognize the meter. This problem seems related to the stupid driver server approach used. However, the meter works fine with open source dispcalGUI out of the box and open source colorHCFR (but you must switch to the ArgyllCMS driver). The biggest downside of using the open source software seems to be you won't be able to take advantage of the Flare Correct; possibly DDC/CI also. The meter will not work with commercial calibration software basiCColor, Calman or ChromaPure. This is marketing fiction enforced by X-Rite, since the meter is hardware identical to the more expensive i1 DisplayPro. It is also flaky in being detected or staying connected unless you hook it up to a powered USB hub. This is noted in the fine print. If you can live with the above issues, the meter is a great value for the level of color accuracy.

A happy surprise

By

from cincinnati, oh  -  Business User

So, when I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks the only surprise was my X-Rite i1Display2 wasn't compatible---bummer$$$. But I needed to do something on the less expensive side of things and went with this. Seems much better than the i1 and I like the ambient light feature. Also, I am getting my prints closer to the screen with less effort and wondering. I'm sure there are better or more complete options but this was the right value and product for me.

I would recommend to a friend

By

from Bethesda, MD  -  Avid Amateur Photographer

This is the first monitor calibration tool I've ever purchased, or used for that matter, and I'm glad I pulled the trigger and purchased it. I consider myself an avid DSLR photographer and I like to do my own prints from the comfort of my home. For years I've been frustrated that the photos I printed myself didn't match what I saw on my monitor. I recently purchased what I consider to be a pretty high end consumer photo printer, the Epson Stylus Photo R3000. Both the paper and ink are not wallet friendly, so I wanted to be sure that I get the prints right the first time around. The ColorMunki has helped me achieve this. Setup was so simple, basically plug and play and follow the instructions.

Does not work on Mavericks

By

from California  -  Photographer

The software is a non-starter on OSX Mavericks (10.9). I went through the help forum of the manufacturer and have attempted the fixes suggested there, but they do not work for me. I have contacted the manufacturer but their "24 hour" reply time is now 4 days old. I was able to get it working on a multi-monitor Windows 7 machine and it seems to work as advertised, however it was purchased to be used on the Mac, so it really provides no value to me.

ColorMunki does the job!

By

from Burlington, NC  -  Business User

As a professional photographer, I need a great product to calibrate my monitor so my prints match what I see on my computer screen. ColorMunki does just that and is super easy to set up and use. You can also set it up to measure ambient light in your room/office throughout the day so you always have an accurate display.
