Shopper : Will this calibrator work well with 4K monitors?DAVID F : In general yes, because the resolution of the monitor has nearly nothing to do with its calibration. There are other possible issues to consider, however, and those have to do with the color space of the monitor and the monitor's firmware and limits to adjustability. Generally speaking, almost any monitor from a reputable company which sells photo oriented monitors that claim to be capable of about 90% or more of either or both the sRGB and Adobe RGB color spaces, without regard to resolution, should be easily compatible with the calibrator and software provided in this package. This is top flight stuff, pretty much the standard of the industry for individual pro/enthusiast users. The onlu caveat is that some really good monitors come with their own software/firmware systems for calibration, but even then, most times the calibrator in this package, as well as their own branded unit, will work with the manufacturers software.
Shopper : Hello. ¿ Are the i1 display pro + color checker VS x-rite photographers kit the same products ? ¿is the photographers kit better?MIKE WHEALAN P : I don't understand the question. I own the Passport bundle. It's nice for calibrating your monitor and for creating profiles for accurate color on the images from your camera. If color is important in your work (i.e. matching the colors of sports uniforms, etc.) then this is a good investment. If color is not that important in your work (if it's just "subjective" and doesn't matter all that much and is more of an artist's choice) then don't buy this.
BONNIE B : My lab recommended getting X-Rite ColorMunki Display. I saw that there is a i1Display Pro, too. I am looking at the bundles for these products.
I have a small business and don't know if I need the i1Display Pro or the X-Rite ColorMunki Display.

It really comes down to two things - you; and your small business. I'm just guessing, but from the manner you asked your question, the Color Munki Display may sufficiently meet your needs. Since you said your lab made the recommendation I'm guessing you're a photographer and since you've posted the question here and mentioned having a small business, I'm guessing you're also NOT a graphic designer. Right now, Adorama has the i1 Display Pro and the Color Munki Display bundled with the Color Checker Passport for a price difference of $80 USD. If you're doing photography, I highly recommend the ColorChecker. Use it, it will help you see color like you haven't before, and your lab will thank you for it. As far as the two devices, ask yourself what do you get for that price difference. My understanding is you get a little quicker calibration (but how quick is unknown); support for broadcast video, and access to Pantone color libraries. Are you doing broadcast video and / or artistic and graphic design work using Pantone based colors as part of your small business? Don't just consider my input, I'd also recommend visiting X-rite's blog and web page to satisfy yourself. Each offers a comparison of the two products (as well as the rest of them). It's much more accurate than the I1 Display 2 I used before I switched to the Display Pro. The X-Rite ColorMunki Photo on the other hand, along with the ColorChecker Passport can be used to calibrate your digital camera, your monitor, printer, scanner and projector.
The i1 Solutions are priced and sold as professional level and they have some advanced features. The ColorMunki solutions are also for professionals and serious amateurs. Most professionals that I know use the ColorMunki.

Aside from the setup it has been good.
Setup was a nightmare because the description said it would run on my iOS and Windows versions but only display calibrated would on my Mac, the passport wouldn’t on either. I spent about 10 hours hunting down the version of software I needed for my two computers and mostly it was trial and error because even the ones that listed my OS didn’t always work. I did eventually work out most of the bugs. I still can’t get the True Color app to work on either computer but that’s minor. It had To get the Adobe dng converter to use it because my photoshop is outdated but that isn’t their issue. The calibration itself is awesome and super easy to use. I would definitely buy it again but the listing should be more accurate. Fortunately x-rite has all their older versions of software available online so I was eventually able to get things working. You have to google search for it though. They don’t have an easy searchable tool for the older softwares.

Great gizmo
I like the X-rite display pro; however, I did initially struggle with getting the photoviewer of my windows 7 to display correct. Utilize the old version of the calibration file to get it correct. Now I am having perfect color.

It took me the better part of the day to realize that the installation disc doesn't work. You have to go to the online site to download the installation software. And then, it was still difficult to load. Once it was on my computer it did its entire "thing" in 15 minutes. stephenbierce@yahoo.com

Must have if you are serious about your photography
While I was casual about my photography, I was casual about color calibration of my monitor and color accuracy in my photos. Once I started getting serious about it, and charging money for it, I found myself spending more in Lightroom to make sure my photos were rendering color accurately. To simplify, and improve, that process, I begun researching calibration tools. While I had considered various brands, reading "The Basics of Color Calibration", on photographylife.com, helped me choose X-Rite i1Display. The ColorChecker Passport seemed like a nice to have at first, but the more I researched it the more I realized I needed it, not only to get accurate colors in my photos, but to expedite my workflow. Regardless of what gear you use to shoot photos, if you don't have this X-Rite bundle, or something similar, you're missing a big tool in your arsenal and an important step in your workflow.
