Questions & Answers

Shopper : Will this work with a Mac Os 10.4 system, G5. No intel processors?DAVE S : I can't answer the question since my Mac has intel processors. I worked great on mine. Be aware though it will only calibrate the monitor. You have to get the more expensive one to able to calibrate a printer.PAUL S : LT is a discontinued product. If you buy this, you need to call their customer service to download the latest version. Or, you can Google yourself for the latest version. For PC version, you need to get their help due to software security conflict with WIndows 7.DEVIN W : Yes. Works on Windows and Mac.DAVID B : I use mine on an Intel Core Due, OS 10.6.8 no problem.WARREN S : I use the program on Windows. Sorry! I suggest you check the "eye-one" web site. It's pretty comprehensive.
Shopper : I use a 17" macbook pro with photoshop cs5 and Epson R2400 printer. The macbook pro is new to me and since I've started using it all my prints are coming out darker and with slight color shifts from when previously printed on my old mac laptop. I've read a number of reviews about the Eye-One Display LT, but none of them refer directly to a macbook pro. Is this the way to go for color calibration or is there a better more accurate product out there in this general price range specificlly for the macbook pro?LORALEE P : I can't address your question directly regarding Mac as I am a PC user. However, my Dell PC laptop had a very cold blue tint to it out of the box. Using the Eye One I was able to get good color on it, and in combination with installing the profile for the professional printing service I use (blurb) I was able to get good color. Please note that when you adjust your photos on your computer screen, they will look darker when printed just because the light emited from the screen will make dark areas seem lighter. The eye-One will walk you through making the adjustment so that the monitor emits less light. Note that as mine is a laptop, the controls for the monitor are readily accessible to the Eye-One software and it pretty much self adjusts. My husband has a separate system and (unsupported) monitor and he had to make the adjustments (brightness, temperature) by hand, but guided by Eye-One.GARY S : Hi, I was asked to give you some information in regards to your question for the Eye-One display. I bought this item about a year ago to use with my IMac intel computer using version 10.6.7. This has been helpful in keeping my monitor color consistent. I calibrate every 3 weeks. It is very easy to use and I think worth the investment. I also have an Epson R2400 printer. It is important to determine which color profiles you plan to use for your printer to get accurate color. I currently am using the ones provided by Epson but wonder if I could improve the color output if I calibrated my printer. Having said that I am contemplating buying the the colorMunki by x-rite.This will calibrate your monitor, printer and projector, if you use one. This however is about 3 times the cost of the Eye-One and really depends on how much you use the printer. You might want to contact David Brooks at Shuttebug Mag. as he has a number of articals involving printing accuratly. I do use the colorchecker by x-rite and found it to be most helpful for getting accurate color at the front end i.e.the digital record. In answer to the original question the Eye-One is very good at what it does,is easy to use and I felt well worth the cost. Thank you, Gary S.JESSICA R : I really can't answer that, as this is the only color calibrator I've ever used. The Eye-One works fine for me, but I use a Mac Pro tower. You can send this message on to the shopper, but don't post it on your site, as it is not especially informative.ELLEN E : i have not used this with a macbook pro. i use it regularly with my 24" iMac and it works very well.

Not so hot

I want my monitor accurate so that when I send photos off to be printed, they come back true. This program is very cumbersome and inconsistent.

Great Price, Does exactly what it should

The i1 display Lt does a great job calibrating my 20" iMac screen (not the best screen but does the job) Yes the calibrator lacks detailed instructions but if you are pretty computer smart...you'll be fine.

Works great

Works great, better than my old spyder. My Dell monitor is now calibrated to the prints I get from my photo lab.

Essential Part of Photographer's Kit

I started out with 3 displays on 3 computers (laptop, LCD monitor and CRT) and a photo printer. Epson supplied an ICC profile for the printer, but on the displays, colors looked wildly different. After running the Eye One procedure on each display, colors match on the displays, and match those produced by the inkjet printer. Success. The Eye One is somewhat quirky, but it's just a matter of getting used to it. At first, the counterweight was difficult to attach to the USB cable. The workaround is to drag the cable through the groove in the counterweight while pushing the counterweight onto the cable. After about the 2nd or 3rd calibration, the Eye One sensor wouldn't stick to my CRT screen. After I slightly wetted the suction cups, they stuck tightly. Another problem solved. The product comes with a nearly useless quick start guide, and you are left with on-screen instructions that make using the Eye One for the first few times a fun puzzle that needs to be solved. Keep clicking on things! Don't worry, you'll figure it out.

X-Rite Eye-One Display LT

Display calibration couldn't get easier: Installed the software, plugged in the Eye One LT. Everything is pretty much automatic. I spent some time comparing this, the Spyder2 and the Huey Pro before deciding to get this. The other two might be cheaper but from what I have read, this is the best you can get for the price. I took the plunge and am happy to say that it is perfect! The pictures I print out are exactly like the images on screen. I sometimes had problems with pictures being either too bright or too dark and sometimes had weird color casts when printed. That's the primary reason I got this - now I'm happy.
