Perfect balance of functionality & sustainability

Wanted a home-scale backup power solution that would have the right features and capacity while also avoiding gas-powered options and including a solar-charging option. This generator checks all the boxes. Love it!

Off grid boondocking

I bought this a few weeks ago to power my expedition rv electrical needs. It's too early to give a full review that's why I only gave four stars. So far I'm pleased with this purchase. This is what powers my expedition RVs electrical needs, I also have two Honda EU2000 generators for when solar isn't practical.

easy to move.

This unit is easy to move and also does not take up a lot of space. I love that you can use it in the house with no fear of carbon monoxide poisoning. I like that no one knows I have it and am running it because it is silent.

Goal Zero for Boondocking

I have mounted the 1250 in my Jeep which is the Tow Vehicle for my T@B Outback. It charges in motion via a roof rack mounted 100w Solar Panel and the 12vdc plug in the Jeep. When boondocking I add the 4 Boulder 30 Panels mounted on the tripod and top it off with a Yamaha 2000 generator, if needed.

Emergency Ready

I purchased a yeti 1250 with 8 boulder 30 panels. It's run my fridge for over a year now and I live in the Seattle area. The panels work great in cloudy conditions. It takes about 8 hours in overcast Seattle weather to charge it back up. I just saw that you have 100 watt panels. I'm thinking of getting a second 1250 and powering it up with 4 100 watt panels. I'm sure it will smoke! This is the best product for emergency use. If you are looking to supplement your gas generator or just have this as your only generator, it's a great value. Like I stated, I'm going to purchase another one as soon as they come back to my nearest Costco store. The prices are fantastic there and you will never have to worry about warrantee. Fantastic products, get 6-8 Light-a-lifes, a lantern, a torch, the yeti 400, extra panels and the 1250. You'll be totally set in case of any emergency, no matter where you live.

yet 1250

I got this 2 weeks ago and I am still experimenting on what the capabilities are. I have tried a crock pot and it works fine if there is not an electric blanket in it. It charges well from solar, better when the sun is being nice. I may get more panels, but I still want to try a wheat grinder, a mixer and the fridge.

Great for backup power

I received the Yeti 1250 last spring. Our house has been under reconstruction this summer and the power has been off a number of times. On these occasions the Yeti has kept the fridge, tv and lights running. Very happy with the product.

Excellent buy!

I bought this generator as more of a emergency item for when the power goes out. I have had it for just about 2 months now and have used it for so many more things. It is great for camping with lots of people or for a long weekend or week. I also use it when I take my remote control car racing. I plug in 6 R/C car chargers and 2 fans that pull a maximum of 800 watts and the generator handles it all no problem! Great generator as a emergency power supply! Also for anything that needs power on the go (that is, if you can lift it).

Worked when we needed it!!

We never got around to testing the generator while it was still under warranty, But rolled it into a closet with an outlet, plugged it in, and had it ready. When the electricity went out, my husband was going to fire up the gas generator, and all the setup/outside location required, but I pointed out we had this nice, silent product all ready to go, and it was!! Charged out phones first, just in case, then plugged in a lamp and a toaster over and had a nice meal. Way to go, Goal Zero!

Yeti 1250

i purchased this system to allow me to work at my cabin in the wilderness. As with all solar, you must be vigilant with your power usage. The Yeti 1250 only produces enough power to run my computer and modem. I have 6 30 watt panels attached and the most I've ever seen them produce is about 100 watts. They are not the type of panels that can charge in overcast conditions either. Overall, it has allowed me to work from the cabin, but I had higher expectations. You decide if it was my expectations or a lack of disclosure on the part of Goal Zero. I would only recommend this product to some who consumes an average of 50 watts for about 8 hours. And that's not a lot of consumption.

Goal Zero Yeti 1250

I have had my Yeti 1250 for nearly a year now. I sell products at various farmers markets and need to keep my product cool. I have the solar generator installed in my truck with two Boulder 30 solar panels. It runs a refrigerator continuously. It also runs a heater, fans and other items as needed. I would recommend this product to anyone requiring an external power source that portable and can provide power for a wide variety needs.

Excellent not just for camping but overall safety

We bought the Goal Zero Yeti 1250 Solar Generator kit for both camping and overall safety when we loose power in the house. We have lost power twice for 24 hours and the generator worked perfectly giving power to the fridge, sump pump, lights, computers, phones, etc.....we felt secure without paying for one of those gas generators that are so noisy. No one even knew we had a generator except for the lights that were on at night.....

Great for camping

We have taken the Yeti 1250 camping. Worked great. So heavy so a small dolly us recommended if you don't have strong arms in your party. It was great running a fan in the tent on the Yeti to keep condensation at Bay and allowed a C-Pap user to camp who hasn't been able to in years. We also plugged in an electric cooler for food and drinks. Didn't have to worry about restocking ice.

Works great

I bought this generator and solar panels as a backup for my condo. It stays charged even with the lesser winter sunshine here in Wisconsin, and , I keep my alarm system, watch winder, and room humidifier running from the generator 24/7. I am very happy and hope if we ever have a power outage it will be what I need.

Great for RV's & Household

This generator enables me to camp without worrying about running out of battery power in the trailer and I can also use the 1250 Generator to power numerous devices. It's great for power failures at home and everyday use to conserve electricity normally provided from the grid. GREAT PRODUCT!!!

Great out of the box setup

I bought the Yeti pack with 4 boulder 30 panels, tripod and three LED lights. The package is best for someone who wants solar right out of the box without needing much learning. However, you do pay a good amount more for it than building your own. But, in all honesty, goal zero makes an awesome, sturdy and aesthetically pleasing product which is worth the money. Additionally, I had one of my LED lights break. Goal zero replaced it at no cost! Awesome customer service!

Confidence & Security

I bought the Yeti 1250 and 8 Boulder solar panels recently. This setup is indispensable to be ready for any interruption in electrical power from the power company. I have used it several times for such power interruptions and the GoalZero kit has proven itself.

so far so good

Using for backup for power outages. Neighbors have gas generators that let the world know what you have is available for stealing because they have to be used outside. Tried last night as test (just bought) and will run the fan on my wood stove for 15 hours or TV for 12. Will be doing test on fridge. Does charge slow but its winter and I have a bunch of trees blocking my sun access. Will be daisy chaining 2 batteries because can easily keep them charged. Charging my 1250 right now with 4 boulder 30s outside on a tripod and a 30 feet extension running through dryer vent in wall so yeti stays safely in the house.

After 1 year

I purchased this product a year ago from a major camping supply store. Installation is easy. Put up solar panels and connect. The first time I used the Yeti it was to power a circular saw and I blew out the Yeti. It required a new battery. Lesson learned is that it can not handle large amperage loads. No go on power tools. Customer service was great. They shipped a new battery and the Yeti was back in service. This is what I have found using the Yeti on my off grid cabin over the last year. First, we needed to buy a generator to run power tools since the Yeti can't. Second, the Yeti solar panels are disappointing. In full sun, at the right angle, in summer they can pull 15watts, but no more. That means in the winter, with short days and clouds it may take a week to charge the Yeti. Third, they Yeti discharges faster than expected. We run a propane wall heater with a blower on it. After running the blower on and off for two days, the Yeti is about 60% discharged. This is with nothing else plugged in. Fourth, I like the fact that it is quiet, can be operated indoors and you don't have to worry about starting it or having it freeze. So would I buy this again? When we bought this there were no other products like this on the market. I would buy this or something like this again. I like the fact that it is quiet and charges our laptops and phones and powers a set of LED string X-mas lights. I don't like the fact that it really can't do much more than what your 12v car charger would do and I don't like the fact that if you try doing more with it you instantely drain the battery. Finally, they show it as portable. It is not and the wheels on it are useless. It's a good idea, I would buy again even understanding the caveats.

Very pleased

I've got the Yeti 1250 plus 8 Boulder 50 panels that we use to keep the 110 volt refrigerator running in our 5th wheel trailer while we are on the move. It will power the refrigerator for 18 to 20 hours without a problem. I am planning to expand the capacity with another battery soon as I would like to be able to run a few lights and other things as well as the refrigerator. The only problem I've had since I installed the system is the lack of reliable how-to information, but the questions I've had have been answered promptly by the support personnel. Eventually, I will probably get a second unit as well. Well worth the expense.

NOT what i read or expected

I thought that i had re-searched this product on-line, talked to the rep at a store, over-all, i am VERY dissapointed with this product, they mention it as back up for a FRIDGE?!?!?!? not even possible. i have my laptop, t.v and dvd player lugged in. thats it. we can barely get through a 2 hr. movie before its down to 50-60% power remaining. i chained 4 panels, in FULL sunlight, the MAX wattage input is 58-60 watts. wtih FOUR panels. I am very disappointed.

I got one, then 4 friends did too.

I bought this as an emergency backup for my refrigerator and other needed power. Tested it with my 25 cubic ft fridge with normal day time in and out. Full charge to 40% in 18 hours, with normal use. If I were being careful I'm sure it would have been over 24 hrs. I have 3 panels and like the Escape 30 panels better, but they require an adaptor and I don't get anywhere near 30 w from it. More like 17. Well made, very durable, but heavy. I have long cables for my panels because I can't carry the Yeti outside to charge, nor do I want it sitting in the sun all day. So the Yeti sits under a table at the door and I run a 30' extension out to the panels.
