From its high quality sound, awesome lashing points, the rugged design, the versatility it has, and the ease of pairing this little guy, I don't know where to begin. The sound is incredible. I originally got it to supplement my new HP laptops extremely quiet speakers to watch shows and listen to music. It is seamless and sounds like a theater (I have used it a lot to talk on the phone any people on the other end say it sounds great) The lashing points are perfect for my backpack or hanging around the house/car. I can attatch it anywhere. This thing is built like a tank, but isn't super heavy. Incredible design that isn't bulky or feel like a chintzy brick that I have felt in other speakers. The versatility from using it to play music, to answer a phone call, to watching a movie on my laptop is sweet. I use my phone a ton and plug it in while I can talk to people through the speakers as far as the Bluetooth allows (50ft is a long ways!) It is so easy to switch from my Android phone to my HP computer. I could keep going, but you're not here to read a book. I didn't even talk about the chaining jack or the built in USB or the phone pouch or the solar panel. Last thing to note, I have had no problem with the battery. I read other reviews saying it sucks and I have used it for a long time. It has four lights indicating 25% battery life. Great feature.

I bought this when it went on sale for the holidays, a little gift for myself. The sound is amazing for such a small device, I can hang it on my ruck, or on my bicycle for tunes while walking or riding. Weather residence is important for my outings, plan on saving up this summer for your next holiday sale, open box event, there is so much more I would like to get from you guys because I trust your products.

Got this about 4 days after I ordered regular shipping. Was impressed. Like other have stated when the plug in cord is moved around there can be some static or scratchy noise. Usually just occurs when getting it all set up and ready to go. I haven't taken it out yet in the field but it is small enough to pack on any backpacking trip and weighs minimal, was kind of hoping it would weigh less but it's really not a big deal. Haven't tested the battery life yet but for sound I don't think you can find better for same price and size. You don't get a big bass sound but all around it is very respectable. Let's be real no. One buys this for bass anyways. I do enjoy the fact it zippers apart and you can stuff your mp3 player or phone size related items into the zipper compartment. Very handy and well thought out. Overall I would highly recommend to anyone looking for great sound, solar comparability, and low price.

Bought at Costco last year for camping. Never did charge, bluetooth never worked. All my other Goal Zero products are great.

There is no way to use my two early Rockouts anymore so I bought this one and was really excited about it. However, it cuts out as I try to listen to my audiobooks and/or use it with my Kindle, iPad, or Mac computer. This is useless to me because of that defect and I've here that others have the same problem. Please bring back the wonderful original.

I've had my camo rock out 2 for several years now. I usually just use it while I'm in the shower but I've taken it camping and hunting on numerous occasions. When I'm only using it while I'm in the shower, one charge will easily last a few months. When I take it to work and use it for music instead of the radio in my work van, I'll get around a week's worth of charge from it before needing to plug it in again. It's been the best speaker I've ever owned. Also, while I'm out hunting, I leave it hanging on my pack so I have a secure place to store my phone. My phone is water proof but this just adds even more protection from the elements.

I have been using a Goal Zero speaker for the better part of a year as my bicycle speaker and for the most part I love the speaker, but there are several pretty big weaknesses that the device has. The strengths are simple: Great sound quality and easy controls in an awesome form factor. The weaknesses are disappointing: The integrated wiring is cheap and if it breaks the speaker becomes junk. I returned my original speaker to REI once due to issues with the USB wire and my current (replacement) unit is almost toast now. The USB jack fell apart on the first unit and now the wire housing has broken on the replacement unit and it is just a matter of time until the USB plug falls off completely. If the USB cable was a separate cable this would be a far superior product. If they ever fix the issues with the wiring this would be the perfect mobile speaker.

I just got one as an early Christmas gift. I wish I had known the external buttons are optimized for Windows or I phone. Although it sounds great and will serve its purpose(mountain and road biking),it sucks that I won't be able to use it to its fullest extent, unless I go buy an I phone since I have as Galaxy S6. I thought my I pod Nano or Touch would work. But nope, same results, can't use external buttons. Have to stop, open the GZ and use the buttons from whatever I have attached to the GZ. Still a good product, but maybe the description should specify that external button are optimized for Windows or I phone.

I received my speaker as a Christmas present last year. I have enjoyed the great sound that it produces and length of time that it lasts in between charges. My only complaint is that this month it stopped working. That is less than one year of using it. I would say that I would fit in the "occasionally used it" category so it isn't like I was always using it. I would say 1-2 times a week. Now when I turn on the power button it plays the music for about 1 second and then stops playing despite the fact that the power button is still lit up and it is fully charged. I want to buy another one because it has been such a great speaker, but I'm hesitant if it won't last longer than a year.

I recently called about my rock out 2 that started cutting out while it played, they asked my to send a pic of the unit with the cord cut and they would send me a new one in the mail. My unit was over a year old and they asked no questions just agreed to send one. If the unit comes in good time I will post another positive feedback review.

I got this speaker with a solar kit from REI and I just love the thing. I put it on my bike using the bungie cords that are attached and it stays in place. It's loud enough that I can hear it pretty far away, but it doesn't get so loud that it distorts the audio. which is great! Def is waterproof, I've used it in the rain and shower. I have my phone in a case and I still manage to fit it inside. I even got pop spilled inside it where the usb and 3.5mm ports are and it still works. Also it has the cords attached so, I can't lose them. I have nothing bad to say about it.

I've had this for a year now and it holds a great charge and most recently I took it on a rafting trip and completely sunk it in water for a hour and it still worked I know they said extremely water resistant but I surely did not expect this water resistant.

I just bought the Rock Out 2 for a planned camping trip. The battery life and ruggedness of the product are what sold me but after a couple attempts at using it, I have yet to get any of the controls (play/pause/skip) to work. I have tried using it with my iPhone 5S through a variety of apps, (Pandora, Spotify and Apple Music) with no luck. I have to open up the case and use the device. I have also tried with an iPod Nano with the same result. Sound quality is good so I am giving this 2 stars. The packaging and user's manual state that: "*External controls optimized to work with Apple (R) and Windows (R) products" I've tried two Apple devices, sad to say I'll probably be returning it.

The sound, portability, and protection of the device are great. Sometimes however, the music will pause on its own, or the volume will turn all the way up and down spontaneously. It only happens when my device is plugged into the Rock Out, so I don't believe it's a problem with my device.

I bought these as a gift for someone, mostly for them partly because I knew I'd love them too!! They came in, the packaging was on point. I must say goal zero is marketing solar gadgets in such a cool and hip way. So the box was fun, cudos. The solar speakers were easy to figure out, loved the hookups and easy storage of cords and phone inside the speakers to protect the phone while you are outdoors listening to tunes powered by the sun. I have laced them onto just about everything and I just love them. I want more. The sound quality is great, and projects fairly well for it's size.

Purchased this product with out reading the specifications, as I have many Gaolzero Products and am completely impressed with them. Much to my surprise, the Rock Out 2 Portable Speaker is not equipped with Bluetooth. For the price of this speaker (compared to the Rock Out Speakers I already own) it should be equipped with Bluetooth. Having control buttons on the speaker itself does little for me, especially with the six inch cord and my smart phone so close by (kind of pointless if you ask me) for control purposes. Thanks for all the great stuff, but no thanks for the Rock Out 2 Portable Speaker.

I would rate this five stars and recommend it to everyone if not for one thing: When I use it as a laptop speaker to watch videos (YouTube or BluRay) the speaker cuts out between dialog. Unless there is constant soundtrack or ambient noise the speaker seems to turn off until dialog resumes. It's annoying because I end up missing out on the first second or so of the movie dialog when the actors resume talking. This has never been a problem when it comes to music, however. Aside from that this is a great portable speaker. It lasts at least as long as advertised, it's definitely weather proof (I've left it out in the rain and snow) and the sound is impressive considering the size of the speakers. I work on really loud industrial sites in northern Canada and I use this all the time in all sorts of situations.

I am impressed with the quality of my speaker. I bought it because I couldn't stand using earbuds or headphones any longer. I can have it on low and watch/listen to a video on my laptop, or music from my tablet, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, and no one else in the room can hear it so they're not disturbed. I seldom turn the volume up, but when I do, I'm amazed at how good it sounds. So far, I've only used it while at my desk. However, in future, I will be taking it with me when traveling.

Overall, the sound is pretty good and the unit seems well made...but no Bluetooth?! In such a competitive market space, it seems short-sided to market a device without Bluetooth. I just cannot recommend this until there is a wireless option for connection.

Two friends and I recently decided to drive from England to Mongolia. Our car was equipped with just two 2" speakers in the dashboard, and so we sought an auxiliary speaker that we could easily attach to/remove from the car. The Rock Out 2 proved to be the ideal solution. We simply ran a cable from our audio receiver to the speaker, ran a zip tie around the passenger's headrest, and used the speaker's elastic bands to attach/detach it. The sound quality was surprisingly good, and was even suitable for audiobooks. The speaker remained charged for hours on end, and when the battery inevitably died, we simply plugged its USB charging cable into the audio receiver for an hour and continued along. Like all Goal Zero products, it's also exceptionally durable. Ours took a few tumbles in the sand, and still worked perfectly. Highly recommended.

I'm a cyclist and those like me understand the dangers of headphones; This is the perfect compromise, great sound and awesome functionality. This is your solution to portable quality sound. The 1st series has good sound but the 2nd series steps it up with the external buttons and the bigger volume of the case inside. I would recommend this to anyone for the genius of it's design. My only minor complaint is that when the jack is moved around inside the mp3 device like any it will crackle, no worries but yeah it happens

After I had bought this from REI I charged it and found that the cable length was surprising short for size of the speaker. This was my first Goal Zero product which was very good quality, I started playing music about 50ft away from myself and it felt like I was listening to my speaker right next to me.

This little speaker is so fun. My kids love hooking up the ipod and running around the house with the music blasting. I have also used it in the car on smaller trips. It has better sound quality than my car speakers. I love it has a microphone as well. This enables me to talk on the phone while on the road.

I bought one after seeing witnessing one of the Cotsco inside display. After the second time that I used the device, the connector failed to work accordingly. I had to return this item in less than three days of purchase

I loved the speaker from discussions with salesperson in store. However, didn't get advised and was not advertised that it was not Bluetooth. Until this company can come to the technology level, I would not purchase this product.

ROCK OUT 2
By THE D.
I WAS ORIGINALLY EXCITED JUST TO HAVE THE FUNCTIONALLITY OF THE HAVING THE BUTTONS ON THE OUTSIDE AND THEN I POWERED IT UP AND STARTED PLAYING SOME TUNES. AN UPGRADE TO THE SOUND IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I ALSO ENJOY THE BUILT IN CABLES, GREAT DESIGN. I WAS A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SIZE BUT IT TURNS OUT THAT IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST FEATURES FOR ME. I HAVE A GALAXY SIII WITH A VERY LARGE OTTERBOX CASE AND THE PHONE FITS PERFECTLY INSIDE THE SPEAKER MAKING IT THAT MUCH MORE USER FRIENDLY. I ALS...

I love music, but hate ear buds. Solution is this thing by far. I got mine on October 23 and didn't have to charge it till November 9. I didn't play it for two days maybe and the other days were medium to very loud when I did play it. From the math I got about 22 hours before it started getting finicky and I used it about another two or three after that. Like most other portable speakers they don't have a lot of bass but with an equalizer these are by far the best I have found. Little heavier...
