Questions & Answers

Shopper : Can it be programmed to shoot the same scene again and again over a period of time?ROBERT E W : No, but once a panorama is setup it can be repeated by a press of a couple of buttonsALEXANDER G : I would like to help to a shopper, but panoramic head which I bought more simple in use than this one thank youBRENT F : The Gigapan Epic Pro can save the settings for a given panorama. For example, you can set it up to shoot a panorama and then save it to shoot it again starting and ending in exactly the same place thereby taking the same scene. I do this to get several pictures as lighting changes. Obviously the tripod has to be in exactly the same place. Now, if the question means can you leave the tripod/Epic Pro in a place and have it automatically start taking pictures again without being prompted to do so by the photographer, I don't think so. To my knowledge, the sequence has to be started manually each time. By the way, a user manual may be downloaded by going to their website. Hope this helps,DANIEL S : Yes, there is a timelapse setting. You can specify the delay (from seconds to days) between each panorama.
Shopper : Couple of questions, is the moutning arm still plastic and does it come with what I need to connect either a Canon 7D or Nikon D800?LYNN C : There's a plastic cover on the mounting arm but the mounting is metal. I had everything I needed to connect my D800.JEFFREY B : HI, I have had the product for a couple of months, and have had the opportunity to use is several times. I don't know what you are referring to as the mounting arm, but everything I see looks like aluminum. I am using a Canon T3I, and everything that I needed to connect was supplied. The product came with a bag of cables, two for Canons, and others. I would guess that you need is already in the bag. The only cable that I purchased was to go from my PC connection on the camera to the GigaPan, to provide shutter feedback. This is not absolutely needed. GigaPan also sells extended downstruts for use with larger cameras. I purchased a set because I intend using a battery grip. It probably would have worked without the extension. (It adds about 20 mm of adjustment). Overall I have been very pleased with the unit.KENT S : The camera/lens mounting arm is aluminum with a plastic insert on top in the area past the camera/lens mount. The Epic Pro comes with 7 different cables that allow connection to most DSLRs including the Canon 7D and the Nikon D800. I shoot with a Nikon D800 and have had no problems with either the cable or mount.ANDREW R : I believe that the GigaPan EPIC pro still uses plastic in its contruction. In addition to the unit itself you will also need to the correct connection cable (not included) for your camera. Canon cameras and Nikon cameras use different cables (which also vary by camera model). The connection cables may be found here: http://www.adorama.com/GPEPPK.html#accessories
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?JOHN A : "I have been doing panoramic photography using the Panasaurus and hand held. This a great deal of work and less than acceptable results in some cases. This device is attached to the tripod (like the Panasaurus) and you tell it (through a keyboard) where the top left of the photo is and where the bottom right is and it will proceed to take the series of photos from the top to the bottom, one or a thousand. For serious panoramas

This is a VERY HEAVY accessory. It needs a pro tripod! The work that is turned out by this device is beyond execellent. I have been using it for nearly a year and have found little to complain about. The platform inside the unit needs a lock so it is easier to attach and remove it from the tripod and the software sucks (jpg only) - those are my only gripes with the unit. Setup and parallex correction are a dream come true. I used to use a manual panoramic head, much cheaper but setup was difficult to say the least. I would recommend the GigaPan Epic Pro if you are going to take a large number of panoramics for sale so you can justify the cost.
