So far I have been really impressed with this ball head. I've mainly been using it for landscape photography, but it also works well for portraits and architectural. The one complaint I have with it, is that the quick release lever is a little short. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5.

For the price, this ball head is a great value and was exactly what I was looking for. Very well built and sturdy. The only down side is the adjustment knobs cannot be spun freely as they hit the camera body. But the way it is built you just need to pull the knob out (they are spring loaded) and re-adjust to continue tightening or un-tightening.

I am finally alble to make pictures of the entire family without someone holding the camera. I also plan to us it for shots while hiking.

I use the product for motorized dolly camera moves, with the Giotto's head on top of a light-stand, while the other end of my 5 foot slider is supported by a tripod. I angle the dolly slider vertically sometimes, and I needed a head like this to give me the range of motion needed, depending on the angle required by the shot. It works like I had expected. Good product.

If you use a small camera with a kit lens, say a Canon XSI with a 18-55, this will works just fine, but if you use a larger semi- pro or pro body you need a Pro Ball head, don't waste your money. As a comparison I can not use a Canon 30D with a Sigma 17-50 f2.8 as it cant handle the front weight as you angle the camera for the shot

I use it with the D7000 and a 70-300mm and had all sort of trouble getting it level. Tried other brands are much better to control. Cannot find anything positive of this head, wasted my money.

I am very pleased with this product. Solid, easy to adjust. Only minor complaints: I too had the problem of the camera getting in the way of the adjustment knob. I had to disassemble the knob and rotate it so it adjusts under the camera. Works perfectly now. Also, heavier lenses tend to slightly drop down after clamping. I have to compensate by framing slightly higher, then clamp down.

This product is an excellent value. It's strong enough to hold a Canon 70-200 with Canon 20D attached. The controls are extremely simple. For precise leveling, the liquid levels are a great feature. Also, the vertical lock is extremely useful. All of the parts are constructed from sturdy metal, which adds some weight, but is well worth it. I purchased one for my monopod but found the quality for the price so high that I just bought a second one for my tripod. This is a professional grade head at hobbyist prices. You should definitely purchase one... right now.

Wow! Goes great, works great and moves great with my tripod! I got this particular ball head with my tripod because I wanted the slide effect I get with the plate for my macro work. Love the quick release and the sturdiness. Adjusting is easy and simplistic and getting into horizontal is no problem at all with this ball head! Totally satisfied!

I have 2 of these. One on a monopod and a second on my giottos tripod. They are both very sturdy and support both my d80 and d70s well no matter what lens i put on them. I too had the problem of the camera getting in the way of the adjustment knobs, so I took out the screws placed the knobs in a more comfortable setting and re-tightened the screws. Now my knobs are right where I need them and they actually tighten into position with less effort or movement. I can really clamp my camera down very tightly now if I wanted. Great overall ballhead aside from the weight but I suppose that too helps stabilize the camera on long exposures.

I bought this head with a new Giotto;s tripod. I liked it so much that I ordered a second on for a smaller tripod that I use in the house.

good range of motion, good ability to hold where you want it, nice macro slide with levels. a little hard to read the side level and the macro slide release doesn't seem to work well as the camera gets in the way of it's motion.lock keeps it on the camera but hard to get it to lock where you want the slide to lock

I've had it for a year now, if you want a great general purpose ballhead, easy to use and the plate adapters stay tight, this is the head. I use it both for wildlife Telephoto shots, landscape photography and for my 4x5 field camera. it's strong, takes abuse and works as advertised. Cons: its moderately heavy, but sturdy
