I own the G Drive Slim older model for my MacBook Pro. It endured over a decade and a half. It broke down. I researched other external drives for backup. Adorama has the more current model with my memory. Plus, I resorted towards my ShopRunner discount. It arrived swiftly and in pristine condition. I plugged it in and away I went.

I am currently going through data recovery from this brand new drive. It is possible it is the connector that became disconnected, though I am not sure. It is not a very robust design, I would caution carrying this drive with you which defeats the purpose as it is supposed to be "mobile"

No matter what I did, this drive would not format correctly on my Mac. At first, the Mac could not even recognize it. When I got the Mac to see it, even after running the erase/format procedure, the Mac reported it as being full.

I needed a pair of large hard drives to clear space from my main drive. For the price, they couldn’t be beat. The drive itself uses the USB-C plug, and it comes with two cables—one that plugs int the newer USC-C computers, and the other for older USB-A, si you’re covered either way. These are set up for Macs, but It comes with a separate partition with software for Windows. If you’re on a Mac, you can use Disk Utility to remove the extra partition, and reclaim the space (and also do you don’t needlessly have two “drives” mounting on your desktop for no reason.

Got this at a super sale price which can't be beat for 4TB in a small and portable package. Speedy transfers, perfect for carrying my photo archive around when I travel, and for off-loading files from photo shoots. G-Technology products are very reliable.

It was simple to use the included software to format the drive and got right into backing up my Dell desktop's hard drive (2 TB). It took a while to back up all my photos, videos, documents and music but I'm happy to have the peace of mind that this drive delivers...

G-Technology, There the best, had a Western Digital and after 3 month's, it stopped working and the 3 terabytes of info could not be retrieved- lost all those files.

In the past I have used Seagate & WD hard drives, which work in a pinch but of course eventually fail. Picked this up while it was on sale (still affordable without the sale) and just the build quality alone is worth the investment. Metal housing is always a plus over plastic housing. AND it comes with BOTH USB-C and USB 3 cables!

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. It's a recent purchase so for right now it is EXACTLY what I need and in some ways is addressing needs I hadn't anticipated for backing up considerable visual content. What is even better, however, is the support I got/get from the Adorama staffer who recommended this mobile external hard drive. I have learned a lot from him and have been able to make up for bad decisions I made at other retail stores. And I now will only purchase this kind of hardware material through him. My next Apple iMac purchase plus additional stuff will be through him. I learn more and get more and understand more dealing with him than my IT staff at Hunter College where I teach. His name is Daniel Gee. So: DESCRIBING MYSELF HERE: I am more than a hobbyist - journalist, professor, writer, blogger, freelance journalist, author - but technically I am less than a Semi-Pro. But I seem to be getting there.
