The G-Technology 4TB G-RAID External Hard Drive Array with Thunderbolt was designed specifically for professional content creation applications. Featuring powerful, flexible I/O technology, the G-RAID with Thunderbolt is double the data transfer rate of USB 3.0 and over 12 times faster than FireWire 800. Reaching 10Gbps (800MB/s), you'll be able to transfer your media files expediently with unmatched speed.
Optimized for Mac computers, this G-RAID comes Time Machine-ready so all you need to do is plug and play. With 4TB of storage space, you'll be able to back up any important files quickly and efficiently. Also, with built-in RAID 0 support, you'll have better performance since all data is evenly distributed between the two 7200rpm hard drives.

Excellent Hard Drive
I use this drive for video editing with Final Cut Pro X on a 27in iMac i7. It has greatly increased the speed of my editing workflow and can stream 6 + track of ProRes HD video for multi cam editing. It is also very quiet. I would recommend this drive for any media professional.

The product is overated
The connectors use the Thunderbolt protocol but the Hard Drive support uses the old SATA II protocol. Since SATA II max throughput is only 3Gb/S, in a RAID 0 configuration, the max output will only be (theoretically speaking) of 6Gb/s. The Thunderbolt has a much higher throughput 10Gb/s per-lane, but it will not be used at max... If only the system was using a SATA III controller...

These are the most reliable, rugged Thunderbolt RAID enclosures I have come across. They are a staple of my storage planning
Bad move by G-tech not supporting a solid platform
I had problem using firewire 800 and pro res HQ footage (I keep getting the spinning wheel) but with this unit and thunderbolt the problem was resolved as footage move fast between hard drive and computer.
Great performance but the front light stays on unless you power down the unit. Plus the noise level is higher than I expected. Can't beat the speed, though.
I just got my G Raid drive thunderbolt and this unit absolutely complements my iMac beautifully. it's extremely fast and very reliable.
Been working with the 4 TB Thunderbolt G-Raid for a few months now. It flies, it's rock solid. Love it.
I spent ages trying to decide on the best Thunderbolt drive and, in the end, settled on the G|RAID. I haven't regretted it. They are fast, quiet and very good value compared to the competition. They also are very beautifully built. I would have like to have seen a utility to handle the RAID formatting of the drives and perhaps offer monitoring of their status, rather than just reverting to Disk Utility - but this is a minor point. I'd definitely recommend them.
I needed more performance for DJing videos with Serato & Virtual DJ. So I just got the thunderbolt raid drive & a new macbook retina 15inch with 16gb of ram, so far I am not having any performance issues even with HD videos. I have only used it a few times so I'm still a little worried about a hard drive error with this drive since it is raid 0 striped but i guess time will tell.
I use this as my main drive on my Mac Pro and it is louder than my Mac. The product description describes it as whisper quiet but it is far from quiet. I would not use this anywhere near a microphone for audio post work. I have a DroboS and WD MyBook. Both are way quieter. However I would have to say it is the best looking drive and the fastest drive at RAID5 where my Drobo is dog slow and quiet. I guess you can't have quiet and fast. I felt mislead by the "whisper quiet" claim. You should also expect this to stay on even when your main computer goes to sleep since the drive does not sleep. I will upload sound comparisons on YouTube.
I've been in production & design for over 10 years now, until now I have never seen an external drive with this kind of speed. Its a little pricy but if time is money then its a pretty easy choice. We are running these on our 27' iMacs and they have been flawless to this point!
