Nice product, sturdy and work well.

Most useful for close up still photo adjustments.

Design Flaw Makes Product Useless

The tension adjustment on the side has a design flaw. It is too big and sits below the base. This means you can't mount the plate to a large flat surface. Also, the position of the tension adjustment is too high and gets in the way of the device that is mounted.

I own many of this little guys, they have everything you migh need in a QRP, they're the right size, very well built and it's a must if you want to switch to different support systems while doing video.

Great!!!

By

I was VERY happy to find that this works nicely with the Manfrotto 357 plates and adapters. Although this is a small clamp, it's surprisingly strong. I've mounted everything from a DSLR to a Red One on this and have had no concerns at all with strength. It actually seems to be built a little better than the other brand, but is more affordable. I've mounted these to all my cameras as well as my tripods, dollys, steadicams, etc, so I can interchange any of my gear in seconds. If you only use one camera/tripod, this probably isn't useful, but if you're constantly moving your camera to different platforms, this is really priceless.

Great Quick Release

By

I've been using this quick release along with the giottos MH-1000 ball head for a couple of years for landscape and night shots and it does the job extremely well.

Rock Solid performer!

By

from Portland, OR  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I'm buying this extra plate for my backup body. This is one stout setup - holds my D700 with Battery Grip plus 80-200f/2.8D lens securely. The amount of 'slide' adjustment makes macro much easier. Very well thought out AND engineered. Took me a few tries to get accustomed to where everything is, but as with any new "toy" once you get used to it, you wonder how you ever lived without it.

I use this quick release on my Canon 60D hand held rig and another on my video tripod for quick exchange. Strong, light weight, a pleasure to work with.

Questions about this item:

Charles T  Can the Locator pin be removed?
FRED M  The locator pin can be easily removed by removing one screw
jesper j  can you put a Canon EOS 550D on this one?
TIM P  I don't see why not. I've mounted a lot of things on this, from video (HPX 170), to different DSLR (60D, 5D Mk2, 7D). It is very versatile. The only caveat is that the tightening screw (black, right side) sticks above the top and below the bottom of the plate. It does ratchet, although any ratcheting thumbscrews are hard to grab in tight spots. So if you have a wide head on your tripod, be prepared!
Shopper  does it come with a screw so i can attach the it to a pocket dolly?
KEVIN M  I have never used a pocket dolly, so I may not be much help. However, I have attached the shoe portion of the assembly to the ball head of a tripod. Assuming the pocket dolly's mount is similar to that of a normal tripod mount, it should work. I have not pulled my tripod out to confirm, but i believe the shoe accepts a couple of different size bolts.
