Bought it to use with Nikon 200-500
While this lens is not huge, it is heavy enough that I don't want to hand hold it for long. This Giottos monopod works great. Easy to set up, very stable, and the price is right. It easily handles the D800 with battery grip and the 200-500 lens.

I use it for video and photography,It adds stability to a small camcorders and allow you to use a camcorder 60" above your head. The supplied bag is too short for the monopod with the attached Manfrotto 234RC head.
