There's a reason Manfrotto and Bogen are priced higher, they don't skimp out on durable, quality parts. The bolt at the top of this tripod which screws into your camera or ballhead was the first thing to break. It's a good thing none of my gear was damaged in the process. The second part to break were the PLASTIC threads located underneath the twisting leg locks. The fact that they used plastic threads is major design flaw. After awhile, the locking mechanism wouldn't hold the extended legs so naturally, you'd try tightening the leg locks. Doing so will crack the plastic threads rendering your tripod absolutely useless.I would not recommend Giottos brand to anyone and would steer anyone looking for a tripod away from this [*].Also, they have ZERO customer service in the US.

This tripod combines reasonable price with strong load capability. When teamed with a good ballhead (I use a Markens M10) this tripod is a good, sound platform upon which to load your camera setup. I believe that its greatest strength is the versatility of the center column which you can adjust to hold the camera very close to the ground for very close-up marcophotography shots. The legs are nice and stout and easily adjustable to just about any position you might need, or want.

Feels like a really well made piece of gear. The finish is nice too. It's a little heavy for hiking, but they make a lighter set.

Claims it can carry a weight of 26 lbs, The main nut holding my wimberly head broke, dropping my lens and camera on the ground.I have since replaced it with a heavy duty nut and no problems since then. Not very stable and have problems with the locking of the legs

The MT Series Tripods have a unique style and are highly versatile. The legs are made from durable aluminum tubing for lightness and rigidity. TheMT-9160 has a diameter of 28mm. The leg surfaces are finely polished twice, giving the ultimate in lock ability and agility, before finally being anodized in clear aluminum or black finish.
With a load capacity of 22 lb, this tripod is ideal for all camera formats, in the field or on location. The center column brace allows the column to be used as a lateral arm with angle adjustment, especially ideal for nature & micro photography. The column can also be used upside down or reversed. It allows 360° horizontal and 180° vertical adjustment, & the column can be positioned & set quickly with the locking knob.
