Bought as a second column to allow me to change heads. Well made and light weight. Delivered faster from Adorama than if i had bought from the UK.

Own a Gitzo series 2? Don't want to pay $129 for a short column. How about an 80% discount. The Giiottos short column works perfectly in series 2 tripods and costs over $100 less. The magic spec is 28mm which is the common diameter for Gitzo and Giottos center columns.

I was looking for a short column for my Paleolithic Era Manfrotto 3020 legs. Could have cut up the original, but as cheap as this was and to include the neat little delay for hanging it made more sense. The MTC281 was a near perfect fit with a little space just under the round plate, but I understand that it wasn't built for this use. Tube diameter was dead on. Very nice. Now my 3020 can do the same tricks as all the other kids. ;}

I used to do this for a living, now I'm retired. For me getting low with a tripod is of more use then extending everything (which makes for a much less steady platform). So this short center colum is just the ticket to "Get Down".
