It works and it's inexpensive, I use it as backup, it is however not decoded and will not support battery status.

Available (a surprise) and cheap (icing on the cake)

It was nice to know it was available because oftentimes when a camera model becomes obsolete the products used in and for it disappear. In this case the price of the replacement was also considerably less than that of the original, so instead of buying just one i bought three. (By the way I had to compose this comment offline because I couldn't edit it on your email reply format.)
