HUITANG Z : Does the unit have level bubble on top? Thanks!ROBIN W : No bubble level on top, I purchased a small stick on one for a few dollars an the hardware store.HUITANG Z : Robert, Thank you very much! I have Nikon D800 and it has a built in virtual level. Thanks!HUITANG Z : Dear Richard, Thanks for the answer!HUITANG Z : Dear Dean, Thank you very much for your answer. I will buy this unit. It is also on sale these days ($749). I think that it is a good price. --Thanks!RICHARD L : No, it does not have a level bubble. However, to be honest, I have not missed not having a level bubble.DEAN D : No level, but the head I use has one. This is the best tripod I have ever used. I shoot both 35mm and medium formats off it.ROBERT B : no it does not. Many cameras have a built in level which works better, you can get the camera level even if the tripod isn't. Great Tripod, very sturdyHUITANG Z : Dear Christopher, Thank you very much for your answer with more information! The reason I asked is that I found from Gitzo's web, there is a description about the "eye level" for this specific model (GT3451L) (on top of one of the legs of the unit). I also remember I saw a photo for this. But cannot remember where I saw the photo. Thanks again for your help!CHRISTOPHER G : This tripod does not have a level built in, there are many small plates you can get for under $20 that extend from the head base with a small bubble level. There are also many expensive leveling bases for naming panoramic photos.
Shopper : Only "rated" for up to 400mm lens, but I'm looking for a tripod for 600mm f/4 so is it good for that or is there any other Gitzmo more appropriate ? Looking for carbon and 70'' tripod for use with a Wimberly H-200 head. ThxCHARLES P : This is a light weight tripod. I use a heavier carbon fiber tripod for heavier loads like heavier DSLRs with long lensesGEORGE T : The bottom of the center column has a hook for counter-weight but I am not sure this tripod can support a 600mm f4 lens and pro camera. I never own a 600mm f4 lens but it looks very big and heavy because most pros carry it with a monopod on the shoulder.JAMES W : I don't see why not. It's rated up to 39 lbs. The big deal in my estimantion, would to be sure to get an equally strong ball head. I did.NORRIS S : It's plenty strong for a 600mm or even an 800mm lens if you don't extend the center column (if you have one) and I would recommend that you only partially extend the lowest (thinnest) leg sections whenever it is practical to do so. This tripod is ideal for photographers 6'3" or so and taller. A standard three leg section tripod will better suit anyone 6' 2" or shorter and be a touch more stable in all conditions such as wind or uneven terrain. I'm 6' 6" and I love my Gitzo 3541L and regularly use it with a 600mm lens plus a TC both locked down or loose. I have some amazingly sharp images to show for it. The stated limit is extremely conservative. I hope this helps

Very Good Tripod

This was a little pricey for my first true tripod, but I'm of the opinion that you should buy quality products that last. I've only had it about two weeks, but my first impressions are that it is well built, light and stable. I put a Markins Q10 ballhead on it and am pretty impressed. Only reservation I have so far is that I am 6'0" tall and the shorter version was too short, but this one seems to be just about 2-3 inches too tall with the legs fully extended and the center column all the way down. I think I'll be pretty happy with it though.

One of the best tripods on the market. Rock solid. That's all you need to know. It's definitely worth the money.

Rock solid camera support

I wanted rock solid suppoort and I got it. This tripod does it's job very well. The only reason I did'nt give it 5 stars is because of it's need to be dissasmbled and cleaned after beach use. Not difficult but a minor nuiscance.

Rock solid

After going through many bad experiences with wimpy tripods, I was lead to this one via an article on tripods. I bought it immediatly and never looked back. You buy a tripod to hold your camera STILL. This does just that. End of story.

Just I wanted all along

After trying all the inexpensive light weight tripods every one thought I should have. I finally decided the heck with it and decided to end it foreevr. Now I will never have to buy another tripod. YEA!!!

Stability Plus!

Hey, its a Gitzo & it costs a bunch, you expect it to be the best. And it lives up to its reputation. Very light weight & sturdy. But the best thing about it is the ease of set up & the minimum effort that the leg locks take to looseN & tighten. I use it with a D300 w/ grip & 400mm f2.8 lens. No problem at all.
