About Hoodman

The Hoodman HoodLoupe Optical Viewfinder for 3.2" LCD Displays is used to make a close inspection of images as you reviews them on your DSLR camera's LCD display. The LCD screen Loupe isolates the display from ambient light so you will not be distracted by reflections or shadows in it. This makes it easier to view image details quickly to confirm focus and ensure that you have the best image possible. It will provide full coverage of an LCD display screen up to 3.2" diagonally with a standard (3:2) aspect ratio. The Compact HoodLoupe also shrinks down 30% smaller for easier transport and storage when not in use - going from 3.25" to 2.25" with ease.

Hoodman Features

  • Conveniently Collapsible: Shrink your HoodLoupe viewfinder by pressing its ends together, shortening its length from 3.25" to 2.25" in one quick press
  • Glare-Free Photos & Videos: It is designed to fit the 3.2" LCD displays of larger DSLR and HDSLR cameras, with a 1:1 magnification ratio. With the same 3:2 aspect ratio as your camera's LCD, It allows more of the screen to be used for photo & video display so you can clearly see what you're shooting
  • Diopter Adjustment: +/-3: Adjust the diopter's focus to your own eyesight for a customized viewing experience that is both comfortable and clear
  • Case & Quick-Release Lanyard: The lanyard fits around your neck and has a quick-release fastener that allows you to easily remove it. It also comes with a protective carrying case for safe and easy storage, with a built-in belt clip for convenient carrying while on the job

Allows image review in bright sunlight

After you've taken the shot and need to really see what's on your LCD, this HoodLoupe will allow you to get real close. You can check exposure and focus in bright sunlight. The eyepiece is adjustable to most people's eyesight and will really get you down to the pixel level when used with your + button on the back of the camera. An essential tool to have in your camera bag. It's built to last and I don't worry about it being banged around in my kit.

This Loupe has 3 benefits for user. 1. See clearly under sun. 2. It magnifies the images, 3. Great for whom wear glasses without taking off to review images.

Hoodman helpful for critical focus.

By

I'd been reading about this product for some time, and was frankly curious about how useful it might be. I found it does take some getting used to, and is best suited for nature and still life shots in which you have time to compose a shot. I really like it for shots down low to the ground when I can fold the screen out and use the Hoodman to fine tune the focus. I'm looking forward to using it for nature shots.

Good device for bright sunny days

By

The hoodloupe works well in bright, sunny locations where it is often difficult to see the LCD display. There is some magnification, but the real value is checking your photos.

Nice tool

By

This hood/loupe does a good job. When you need to check critical focus or confirm focus point it is much better than putting on the old reading glasses. The hood feature is nice when shooting into the light source. Most helpful.

One of the best

By

The compact Hoodman is compact (doesn't eat up valuable space in my bag), is high quality, and allows me to confirm that I'm in focus. And believe me, as a full-time architecture & interior photographer, focus is not an option. Using this product is a no-brainer.

Makes A Difference

By

I was surprised how much better I can see the screen with this. It really does make a difference. The ability to fold down is a plus; however, it does take up some space though. If you are going to be in sunlight or any where bright it is a no brainer the benefit outweighs the bulkiness.

Questions about this item:

Gopinath J  Will it fit the Sony a57? Has a 3" LCD Screen.
RICHARD J  I use my HoodLoupe on my Sony A77 so you can probably use it on your A57. Due to the tilt/swivel of the A77 I can't attach the HoodLoupe to the LCD. I have to hold it against the LCD. I take the HoodLoupe with me all the time because when I have to take photos in bright sunshine it does work well.
howard k  WHATS WRONG WITH USING THE VIEW FINDER ON THE CAMERA ?
ROBERT M  Is the Hoodman CH32 compatible with a Nikon D7100?
DOUGLAS J  Yes but I wish I had purchased a loupe with 4x magnification. The 4x magnification allows you to easily see whether the image is sharp. The Hoodman really has no magnification.
Neal B  The Canon 70D has an articulating screen. Will this work on an articulating screen (assuming it is folded flat on the back of the camera)?
Andrew R  Unfortunately no, I don't believe that this unit would work well with an articulated screen.
