Not bad

I was able to get lens flare once regardless of the multi-coatings but only the one time. Overall I think this is a great alternative to the more expensive multi-coated UV filters for people that don't need the best there is.

Another winner from Hoya

I use this to protect the front element on my Panasonic Leica Summilux 42.5mm/f1.2 lens. It is well made and does not appear to interfere with the images. It is a very nice product.

I use this as protection for my Nikor Lens...very inexpensive insurance against scratches on an expensive lens with no sacrifice of perfection!

Great UV Filter...Just One Downside...

By

from NYC  -  Photo Enthusiast

I have a automotive business, and ended up deciding to get a Canon 60D and to purchase this Hoya SMC UV(0) Filter with it...along with a number of other items... Upon opening the package, I realized the lens filter could take a little wipping down-just due to the a few faint lines (looked liked scratches-but they weren't)...nothing serious though... While trying to clean them, I realized they were a PAIN to clean...had to resort to using a dishwashing liquid to clean it to perfection... Also I was impressed witht the metal construction, and the fact that the lens cap fits onto the end on the filter...

Love the metal construction and just by looking at this product it is built tough... Works perfect and plus I have the ease of lens protection as well.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Does this UV filter fit on Nikon D90? Does the lens brand matter for which UV filter to choose?
BRIAN K  Filters are used on lenses. The camera body is irrelevant. When buying a filter, be sure to buy the size that is appropriate for your lens. If you have the 18-105mm zoom lens (a kit lens bundled with the D90), then this is the correct size filter (67mm). I would say that yes, filter choice is important. Cheaper filters may degrade the image, costing you sharpness or introducing an unwanted color cast. That said, I do not necessarily think that--one you are talking this level or quality--spending twice for the very best brand is necessary. This Hoya is a good choice.
