About Hoya

HMC (Hoya Multi-Coating)
These popular filters are renowned for their ability to minimise reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting. Hoya 72mm UV

With the sunguard at the end of the camera lens, it can be tough to turn the lens to get the different effects.

VS

Most Liked Negative Review

Package was open and glass smudged

The filter may be fine or it may have been replaced by a piece of cheap glass. Who knows? Adorama's return policy is horrible, requiring me to pay for return shipping plus have the shipping to me deducted from the return, despite this item not being accurately represented. Nowhere does it say "used" or "opened" or "refurbished" so I expect new and unopened. I'll be shopping elsewhere from now on.

Does what I bought it to do

By

from Washington, D.C.  -  Casual Photographer

I use this just to protect my 18-200 VRII lens, and it does a great job. It doesn't make any obvious difference in the image quality and it does stop my curious cats from licking the actual lens. I've heard these aren't so easy to clean, but so far it's been okay.

To me for protection only!

By

from Dublin, Ohio  -  Semi-pro Photographer

To me it is used for lens protection only. To me I don't believe any quality improvement myths. To me I don't see any difference from my photos. To me I don't see any problem on the glass with my naked eyes. You are the one who is going to buy it and use it. You can do a quick test for the photo quality after receiving it. Keep it or not you can make a decision then. We are not reviewer with lots of expensive testing equipment. Even though some of them still indicate that no difference was found.

I add a UV filter to all my lenses. My last filter purchase was a Hoya and I've been very satisfied.
