Non-Compatible with my Nikon D3100

Nikon D3100 gave message that the battery was incompatible and to use a Nikon brand. There was no way to override the warning, so this battery just would not work with the camera it was designed to fit. Hopefully they will have fixed that issue.

Dead on Arrival

After "charging", the battery did not power-up the camera and then needed to be foreced out of the camera. The original battery works as it should and pops out of the battey compartment.

NOT for Nikon D3100

When I purchased this "EN-EL14" there was no disclaimer about not working in the Nikon D-3100. I can confirm that it DOES NOT even though it is called an EN-EL14.

It can work on D3100

Okay, so here is the deal: Nikon uses I2C (or SPI) to put a small ID into the battery so they can tell the real from the fake. If you use one of the battery grips for 2 batteries, first install a real Nikon battery. It will read the ID successfully when it detects power, and it doesn't read it again. Next install one of these so it will keep power, and finally go back and remove the real Nikon. As long as you keep it powered, it will keep working (provided Nikon doesn't read this and 'fix' the firmware).

Not for D5100

When inserted into my D5100 the screen message reads "This battery cannot be used. Choose battery designated for use in this camera". Upon receiving the order, I threw away the packaging and stuck it right in the charger. My bad. It's now a paper weight.
