Shopper : Is tht the only one where is the camera being used?DAVID P : I use mine to shoot baseball games with an EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II lens and got portraits with a Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 lens. It works great for both.
Shopper : Any option to choose the carry case? I bundled carry case does not satisfy my needs.Mark L : There were no options to change the carry case. I chose the bundle for the body. Everything else was secondary to me. I gave the case to a friend to use with their point and shoot gear. Nice case, but does not even come close to working with a 7D owners equipment.MICHAEL P : Yes, you have many options if you want to pay for them.DAVID P : For a camera of this quality I do not use a carry case. I have Cotton Carrier hand strap, and light photo back pack. Both are very comfortable.OWEN P : You cannot get a different case. You cannot make any changes to the bundle. This is such a great deal that even if you only keep the camera and throw out everything else it's still a great deal. Enter an answer to this question.ROBERT V : Lowepro is my choice. Check their website, or Adorama's, for sizes and prices.ELLIOTT B : Have you called Adorama salesperson? Duh?
MICHAEL L : Is this a New USA (not refurbished not Grey Market) unit?

Outstanding Canon Product

This camera is simply a solid evolution from a Canon EOS3 film body to a Canon EOS10 Digital Body to a Canon 7D Digital Body finally to a Canon 7D MkII to augment also a Canon 5DS full frame digital Body and myriad of Canon lens's. We wish there would have been the advent of a 7D MkIII but it was not to be. First outing with the Canon 7D MkII was remarkably outstanding and that is an understatement. We know that there are others out there but we feel this is a standard which others still at this late date should be judged even though it is no longer being produced. We have chosen to stay with a single lens reflex system vs mirrorless because we truly want to peer through the lens in a TTL format and compose one frame at a time.

Still don't have the camera I ordered!

Apparently Canon had an inventory tracking problem with this camera body, so they canceled my order, but NEVER TOLD ME until I called Canon to track it down. They said to wait until it comes back in stock. A couple weeks later they said it was back in stock, so I ordered it again, over the phone. When it arrived, it was the WRONG CAMERA! Called Canon again, the agent was polite and apologized on behalf of Canon, but beyond that said I would have to watch and see when or if they ever get it back in stock. I am very disappointed that Canon doesn't make more of an effort to make this right, since they are the ones that made multiple mistakes with my order. I still don't have the camera I ordered!

Where is my product ?

Upset that I am being asked to review a product I don’t even have. My money is gone but I don’t have the camera. I have called numerous times to check on the status of my order but no one picks up.

Sport Photography

I bought this camera when it first came out in 2015. I had looked and reviewed video on. I shoot Rodeo Photography but I do a few wedding a year and portraits. I am so amaze by it and I am now looking to by another one so my back up camera will be the same. I just love the speed of this camera never miss a shot.

The Best

The best canon camera in my view. It's made of metal, a beautiful machine and takes great photos. Looks new to me.

Worth the price and good enough for paid work.

This camera body has lots of features and enough focus points to do just about any kind of work. The downside is it can be a little slow to gain focus and doesn't always hold it. The images can be a little on the grainy side but that is to be expected with a crop sensor so it's nothing major here. Overall I have enjoyed working with it though it is time for a full frame upgrade soon.

The amazing Canon 7d Mark II

This was an upgrade for me and I couldn’t be happier. The wi-fi option is extremely convenient to use when you want to see your work quickly on an iPad when out in the field. One tip regarding the wi-fi, if you want to upload your pictures to a laptop using the cord rather than doing it via wi-fi, remove the wi-fi card first before the upload. Nothing was mentioned in the manual and I had to call Canon directly to get this information for the upload to work. I love the amount of focus points and the quality of the pictures are superb. The extras that came with my purchase was a nice bonus.

Great Camera, now a successor

What a camera it is. It still is , in 2020. Really perplexed by the lack of a successor for so long. A successor would definitely givee other brands a few sleepless nights.

Poor quality control at Canon

This camera is unreliable. Most of the time it does not turn on. When the camera does turn on, it will stop functioning. An AF icon flashes in the view finder sometimes when the camera will not focus. Other times the camera does not respond to any buttons

anti-flicker feature works great

The image quality was not even close to as good as 5D mkII at ISO 6400 (for indoor sports) but the "flicker" control setting results in more keepers when dealing with gym lights that have 120 Hz sine wave power. It's that 120 hz sine wave that ruins high speed action shots (60Hz power but the "negative" voltage provides as much light as positive resulting in 120 Hz bumps). It's not just a matter that "flicker" makes the room darker or lighter. the problem is parts of the room will be darker, lighter, and different color light. Not correctable in post process. The flicker control resulted in a lot more keepers by delaying the shutter until peak light occurs. Since this happens in less than 1/120 sec it's not likely you will be able to notice the delay. One caution: Expo disk type custom color correction will not work well when using the anti-flicker feature. Best to choose a fixed color correction setting and correct in post. In the worst gyms, I would use this instead of my 1DX. If you don;t wan to spring for a 1DX mkII (which also has the anti-flicker feature) this is a decent alternative for sports shooting due to weather sealing and the anti-flicker feature. If the anti-flicker is not a concern, I would prefer the 5D mkII or later for better image quality.

This is a real Workhorse of a camera

I first purchased the 7D in November 19th 2009. It was and still is a Workhorse of a camera. I purchased the 7D Mark II on July 24th 2019. Newer technology they say. So far it has lived up to all of my expectations. I photograph weddings birthday parties events landscapes Sports still lives travel nature food architecture anything that can be photographed I have done it.

Great Features!

I bought my first Canon in 1979, an A-1 and then I bought a second one, also an A-1. I went digital with a Rebel T-5 in 2016 to shoot a wedding, then upgraded it to a 7D Mark II in 2017. I enjoy outdoor land & waterscapes, and wildlife photography, but wanted to go full frame and mirrorless. I looked at the new EOS R, but really missed the flexible functionality in manual mode offered by the EOS 7D Mark II; by programming a back-button to allow selection of specific and multiple AF points and sections, it's easy to switch from a single to multiple while following a bird in flight! I actually like the flexibility of this camera (7D Mark II so much that I just bought a second one. Don't get me wrong, this camera is not perfect and I would like the noise level worked on; It gets progressively noisy at ISO's above about 1000, so much that I rarely try to shoot above 400-800 ISO and hate going above 1000-1200 ISO. I guess if I turned in a wish list, it would be for the EOS 7D Mark II to come out with a full frame, 50 MP sensor, greatly reduced noise levels, Mirrorless, with a movable back-screen, and keep all the 7D Mark II buttons and their locations, and increased bracket exposures to 11 exposures. Thank you John C. Minnesota

FEATURED REVIEWS

BEAST!

By CLN6149

I was tossing back and forth for a good two weeks over getting the 7d mark ii or the 70d. I'm not a pro..but I figured the extra FPS would help me out, especially since I'll be shooting a lot of motorsports next year. We've all heard the horror stories of purchasing a refurb.. anyway I received it this morning, charged the battery, checked the shutter count - 134 pics! I shot about 30 test shots. Works perfectly and if it didn't come in a different box I'd never know it wasn't "new". Beyond h...

7D Mark II is First Class

By Lionheart

My review and proud new owner of the Canon 7D Mark II. I graduated from the Rebel T5 and I must say up front that this camera is by far quite possibly the fastest and most advanced APS-C 1.6x (60% more zoom with any lens) crop factor body on the market! This camera is already becoming the envy from other photographers and my review will be updated periodically to provide deeper insights of this valuable piece of technology. One of the main inspirations for purchasing the 7D Mark II is because...

The Canon 7D Mark II is Canon's new high-end DSLR in Canon's APS-sensor lineup. Features include a 20.2MP CMOS sensor, 10fps burst rate, an intervalometer, a new battery, and a top ISO of 16,000 that's boostable to 51,200.

New Sensor

The Canon EOS 7D Mark II is built on a new 20.2MP sensor that Canon says will deliver stunning detail and impressive clarity. The sensor has a top native ISO of 16,000, and it can be expanded to ISO 51,200 with claimed low noise for both stills and video. The sensor works in tandem with Dual Digic 6 image processors, which help the camera up to 1090 JPEGs, 31 RAW and 19 RAW+JPEG shots in a single burst. The image processing also handles lens aberration, peripheral illumination and distortion correction in real time.

The shutter is ruggedized and designed for 200,000 cycles. Burst rate is up to 10fps, a major increase, while shutter lag is down to 55 milliseconds. An efficient shutter drive motor and vibration dampened mirror is also part of the package. The camera chassis is built of lightweight, rigid magnesium and is sealed against water and dust.

All Cross-Type AF Points

An EOS first: The camera features 65 autofocus points, all cross-type, and boasts accurate subject tracking down to -3 EV sensitivity at the center point. Cross-type AF points are more accurate and stable, and aren't influenced by subject shape and color. The EOS 7D Mark II's AF points are spread across a wide area of the frame for faster AF on off-center subjects.

Autofocus is also said to be excellent for video. A new Dual Pixel CMOS AF represents, according to Canon, a milestone in AF speed and accuracy. Traditionally, image sensors have one photodiode per pixel for recording, but the CMOS sensor on the 7D Mark II has two photodiodes per pixel-40 million altogether. Each pixel on the sensor can perform phase-difference detection autofocus and capture light. With phase-difference detection AF, autofocus is achieved quickly and easily, and videographers and users of Live View will see the fast-focus results most clearly. Combined with the predictive power of Movie Servo AF, subjects in motion are smoothly and consistently tracked.

Smart Viewfinder

The Intelligent Viewfinder II makes it easy to both shoot, change and confirm camera settings and shooting modes all without looking away from the viewfinder. Displaying approximately 100% of the composition, the viewfinder can show settings like shooting mode, exposure level, white balance, drive mode, AF operation, metering mode, recording format, even an electronic level and more. All of this information can be displayed by or superimposed easily over the image for review while shooting, and multiple views are customizable.

The 3-inch, 1,040k dot resolution monitor has a resin-coated cover so reflections are minimized. The LCD's surface is treated with a smudge-resistant coating to minimize fingerprints

Intelligent Subject Recognition

The camera's iSA Intelligent Subject Analysis system employs an independent RGB light sensor with approximately 150,000-pixel resolution. This sensor enables intelligent Tracking and Recognition system (iTR AF) that detects and tracks subjects, automatically switching the AF point to optimize tracking. New tracking algorithms are tailored to recognize faces and colors.

A new Scene Detection system features a new 150k pixel RGB metering sensor for greater precision.
