The Flashpoint Professional Power Battery Grip for the Canon EOS T2I/T3I/T4I 550D is an optional but essential accessory with excellent ergonomics designed specifically for the Canon EOS T2I/T3I/T4I 550D
Featuring intelligent links to camera functions, matching the design and feel ofyour camera while doubling the battery power with a twin cell chamber that can load a choice of one, or two battery packs. In addition, with theincluded battery magazine, you can also run the camera off six AA batteries.
The non-slip rubberized grip offers perfect balance in any direction with full vertical shooting controls, which can be independently turned on or off as the photographer needs to enhance camera handling, especially for shooting vertical pictures - not videos, please. The grip has generous operating controls as well:shutter button, Main Dial, multi-controller, AF point selection button, AE lock/FE lock button, AF start button, and multi-function button. The base of the grip has a standard 1/4-20 tripod socket and a hand strap mount.Your camera's original battery door fits snugly in a protective hidden slot for instant retrieval.

Good grip for T2i
After reading many reviews before purchasing my first DSLR (the T2i) I noticed that many people complained about the weight and size of the Rebel bodies compared to others, and many people felt that the Rebels handled much better when used with a battery grip. After reading many reviews before purchasing my first DSLR (the T2i) I noticed that many people complained about the weight and size of the Rebel bodies compared to others, and many people felt that the Rebels handled much better when used with a battery grip. So along with my order for the T2i I purchased this grip, as it was cheaper than the Canon version. It most certainly does improve the feel of the camera, and I don't like to use the camera without it. Really balances out the weight of the camera with some of my heavier lenses. Having the extra battery life is great, and when my batteries ran low one night, it was great being able to just grab some AA's to start taking pictures again. The build quality feels nice, it doesn't feel or look cheap and matches the camera body very well. The buttons feel solid, and the rubber gripping gives you a good hold of the camera. I keep a quick release plate permanently mounted on the bottom as I use a tripod regularly, and have no problem trusting the build construction to support the grip, camera and expensive lenses while on the tripod. I have not used the Canon version, so I can't give a comparison between the two. I didn't realize this at first, but the part of the grip that gets inserted into the camera has a small space to insert the battery door (that needs to be removed to install the grip) so it doesn't get lost. If you want to take the grip off, the battery compartment door is always with the camera this way, no digging around to find where you put it. The only negative thing with the grip so far has been with the black plastic finish on the grip. Before taking a hike through the woods, I doused myself pretty well with deet insect repellent as the mosquitoes around here have been rather rabid as of late. I wiped my hands clean of it (or so I thought), yet after 30 minutes I started to notice the grip felt sticky. I looked at my hands, and black finish from the grip was rubbing off on my hands. Now the finish in some spots looks a little smudged even after wiping it down. Probably just a problem with the insect repellent, though there were no warnings on the can about it damaging certain materials. (No problems with the finish on the camera itself, as I had it covered with a Delkin Snug-it.)

probably reasonable alternative to canon
Since I couldnt find a review, I thought I would add one myself for anyone who is considering this. I just bought this from the store in the last hour and just tested it to make sure it works.[...]Fairly easy to install with the included directions. Directions are in multiple languages so should be able to cover most of the world. The batteries, bought separately, were charged out of the box and I was able to install them easily. It fits snugly, did not feel loose, and all the buttons worked as they should (vertical shutter, Av, +, -, and dial).I got this to balance out some of my heavier lenses and it will do the trick. I have not used the Canon version or anyother battery pack for comparison, as the t2i is my first dslr.

As soon as I received the battery grip I test fit it on my 600D. It fits perfectly and securely on the camera and the buttons are right where they can be reached. I have to say that the only thing kinda bad about the grip is that the rubberized grip is a little slippery, but it's really not that big of a deal in my eyes. I would recommend this as a great alternative to purchasing the Canon grip that's more expensive.
This battery grip seemed to function fine, except that with my small hands it was a very uncomfortable grip, especially if it had the tripod mount still on it while using it hand held.
Sent wrong item. No resolution dealing with Customer Service. I will not purchase anything any longer at Adorama. Customer Service unable or unwilling to properly answer my questions and inquiries. "Canned" e mail replies, or if you're on the phone with them, service representatives unable to speak clearly enough to understand and often confused. Very, very poor.
I originally bought it for my T2i for extended battery life with still photography. It works great! I have had no problems using all the controls for vertical as well. It comes with an additional AA pack also. I have not needed yet. I fill an SD card long before changing battery packs. Recharging is fast. I have been using it for video and again the card fills before the battery levels drop. I bought a second on for my T4i. I'm very happy with this product.
There was nothing that I expected this product to do that it didn't to my full expectations, and it had some great extra features as well. For portrait shooting, this grip is great. All buttons work as well as the ones on the camera body. I have never missed a shutter because I was using the grip. It is securely mounted, and I love holding the camera by the grip, it really is comfortable for my hand size. The grip also looks very consistent (color-wise) with a T2i body. It does add a fair amount of weight, but I really don't mind. If anything I think a slightly heavier camera is a little stabler in some cases. The grip is very versatile. It can use one lp-e8 battery, two lp-e8 batteries, or six AA batteries to power the camera. I haven't tried the six battery setup yet, but it works perfectly with canon brand lp-e8 batteries. It gives a significantly more proffessional look to my camera, it adds a little weight and a lot of maneuverability for vertical shooting, and it allows me to use AA batteriesfor power in a bad situation. All in all, a fantastic product at less than half the price of the canon alternative.
It worked great with canon batterys but when i popped in my rechargable batterys it didnt work but i put some alkalines on the bottom and rechargables on the top an it worked
I bought this for my new Canon T4i and it works flawlessly. Perfect fit and excellent operations when shooting in vertical positions - Defiantly worth it!!
Light weight, professional grade!
Amazing, it's like an exact replica of the ones that I have on the cameras I just sold. They cost $130+. If it wasn't for the great reviews I never would have purchased, I have always purchased name brand. Saved so much that I ended up buying more of the nice to have stuff!
Works as expected, so no need to buy the 5x more expensive Canon original. I have used a Canon battery grip on my former camera and the only difference is the feel of the lock: The Flashpoint doesn't open or close as smoothly as the Canon, but nothing problematic.
