OOPS, I did it again...

I wanted to clear up something I started in the review below. There is nothing wrong with the paper that comes with this package. I was looking at "tractor marks" on my finished prints. I'd like it if my printer DID NOT DO THAT, but its great otherwise, so I have to deal with it. It struck me the other day when I was printing, that my own equipment was messing up my prints. The ink is great, the paper is nice to have, what's not to like?

Good deal, but...

The ink is great, every modern printing person knows the scam, the ink runs out, you buy more, the deal you got on your printer starts looking less and less like a bargain. But get over it. The photos print with ink, you print photos, you use ink. Fact of life. However I HAVE NOTICED something about this paper and I think I know why it is free. Intersted to hear if anyone else notices this, but the paper seems to have a smudge in the emulsion on one end and every one of your photos will print with this mark on the end like someone handled it with their thumb and it stuck forever. I THINK that this might mean this was basically a recall run, a bunch of paper that ran with a defect and once it was caught, they put aside that paper to give away with this product. I could be way off base. I would certainly not want to damage Canon's reputation by stating this as a fact. But I buy this all the time, its cheaper than buying it separate and it comes with free paper, which incidentally can HELP you not use so much ink. Catch mistakes at 4x6 instead of 13x19. And both of the packs I have used so far have this smudge at one end. It doesn't make the photo totally useless by any stretch. But I DIDN'T put the mark there. If its on the next pack I open, I will feel like I know something they don't want me to know, though. But the paper is 'free'. I print off 30-40 different photos to see which ones have the stuff it takes to go BIGGER. And when that's over, I have small copies of some of my favorite scenes. The real bottom line is this. NOTHING that you would print on this 4x6 paper is SO important that a little smudge is going to kill it, if there is indeed a smudge on every pack or NOT. Its only visible in certain light at certain angles. This ink and paper deal is still completely acceptable and cost-effective. And it might only be ME that will see it.

Very Expensive

By

from Blaine, WA  -  Frequent User

Would have given the product 5 stars if it weren't for the high expense. The cartridges are expensive and contain very little ink. Unfortunately my Canon Pixma MG6220 printer drinks like a fish and empties these cartridges in no time at all and oprating the printer becomes extremely expensive. Another Gotcha by the printer manufacturer.
