Review Summary

This review is about the bundle - not the camera itself. Is it worth it to bundle? Well, that's debatable. The two lenses are very basic and I've had some excellent shots with them, however I'm aching to upgrade. The filters are fine. I'm not even using the software, so it wasn't worth it for me to have that. The card works fine. But... The bag... I like it, I like the construction, the color, the padding, and pretty much everything else. Everything you get in the package fits nicely. That, however, is the problem. Once I got a few accessories, the bag was obsolete. I used this bag for 1 outing before I had to upgrade. It might be fine for a short walk in the woods, but if you intend to use a flash or any other common accessory, it's just not going to cut it. In retrospect, I think i would have been better off getting things separate. I didn't need or want the software and the bag would be better suited for a point and shoot. Now if you want to talk about the camera itself - it's awesome. I'll review that by itself.

I bought this 2-lens kit when Canon offered instant rebate. The 55-250mm is a good budget telephoto lens. I've took 1000+ photos and some videos in 2 months. Taking photos in RAW format and fine tuning them in the complimentary Digital Photo Professional is recommended. Everything about this camera is good except no dedicated AF assist lamp. Using built in flash as AF assist light isn't a good idea. It's annoying and not always works. Even a 10 years old point and shot camera equipped with dedicated AF assist light can get precise focus in a completely dark room. AF assist lamp in external flash could help, but not everyone has an external flash. Even so, external flash is not always equipped. When is AF assist light needed? If the shutter speed measured by camera is slower than 1/30 at F/5.6 ISO 3200, you might appreciate the help of AF assist light.

Bought this as a graduation gift to myself, and don't regret it. HD video (at 30fps & 1920x1080) is beautiful, audio is good enough (with mic jack included if you need it), and the pictures are amazing. Screen is huge (bonus) and I have no complaints. Be sure to have large capacity (8gb+) for any vacation over a couple days! Video takes up a LOT of memory at full res.

The T2i is very good not only for Photographers that are experts, but as a new Photo Enthusiast as well. The quality of the pictures and the HD 1080p @ 30fps videos are...you need to see this for yourself.
