T2i customer for several years

Takes nice pictures, especially when paired with my Canon 18-135mm lens. Video is not as good as with newer camera capabilities, because it is hard to keep moving objects in focus. The mode dial is easily moved when taking the camera in and out of it's case costing me some good shots. Wish there was a mode dial lock switch

OK until I got caught in a rain storm

I've had my T2i for a few years. I took over 10,000 pictures with it and was very satisfied. In August 2013 I got caught outside in a rainstorm and the camera is now completely inoperable. Also the lens that came with it in the kit no longer has Auto Focus.

As Advertised

Used this on a few international trips. It's super durable and shoots great pictures with not a lot of fiddling. Pretty awesome baseline DSLR!

The best for learning and great photos

For years (since 1975 I was a film photographer Canon Ftb and AE1 (both still active) but in 2010 I went digital with the then top of the line entry level T2i. As a hobbyist and all around joy hunter the T2i has made me look like a pro. I started in New Orleans and on a cruise. Great night shots of wet streets and colors galore with little noise and great landscapes of plantations, shipboard rooms and entertainment shots without a flash and those distance shots of oil rigs from a moving deck of a ship due to the kit EF-S 18-55. But as a learning tool for entry to digital the biggest eye opener was when I found out about HDR photography and the eye popping photos this T2i was able to capture with the stabilized picture with also auto focus on providing the great low noise always. The ability to AEB +/-2 or 1 in 1/3 or 1/2 three instant shots or even to do continuous 2 or more shooting with the AEB getting a set (of three -2 0 +2) for 2 (6 shots total [or more if you just want to let it go]) shots back to back with the mirror up (live view)(less shake and noise) of sunrises or sunsets WITH windy conditions or moving tides providing very little ghosting to tend with, mind blowing magical to say the least.

Great Camera even for a beginner

I was a beginner photographer when I bought this camera and I began shooting that day with a little help from youtube. The images were great. The video capture was awesome I cant tell you how many times we made goofy videos and watched it on the frame by frame video playback. Great camera, all the other reviews convinced me to buy it, so I figured I'd help convince someone else.

Solid camera, good price, professional results

Overall, this is a good, solid camera and a very good value for the price. While it has some nice auto and semi-automatic functions, I work entirely in manual mode, and the controls and ability to adjust settings are clunky. If you're a landscape photographer or work with semi-automatic functions, you won't have a problem. I'm an urban photographer and find adjustments clunky, and a little slow. But again, it's a good, solid choice at at good price, and there is no reason someone with a decent skill set can't get professional photos from this camera.

Wonderful Camera

I'm a beginner and love this camera. You must take the time to read through the manual and play with it. I am amazed at the photos I've taken. The clarity is fantastic, easy to use not heavy at all. I am really enjoying it and want to learn more about photography.

My Dream Camera

I purchased the T2i about 2 weeks ago & can't put it down! Have wanted a Rebel for several years. A dream of a camera. Great photos right out of the box on Auto! Upgraded from an SX40 IS which is a great camera too. Just bought the additional telephoto lens. A little heavy but will get used to that...because that's what allows for all the features and quality. So easy to use, fast shutter speed for my dogs & other action photos. It was worth the wait. If you are familiar w/Canon cams the menus are easy too. Buy it if you are on the fence. You won't regret it!

Great first DSLR!

This is a great starter DSLR. I'm not overly impressed with the performance of the kit lenses in low light situations but that doesn't have much to do with the camera itself. Menu system is very easy to navigate. Manually setting up shots is very quick and easy.

Great value camera.

Canon really nailed their design philosophy with the T2i. This easy-to-use camera would be perfect for any beginner, but unlike the previous Rebel entry-level cameras, it goes beyond that. This is a Real Camera. Compared with other entry-levels, the body feels much stronger and the interface feels noticeably more logical. The image quality is unimpeachable, and the LCD is so good, you'll be fooled into thinking that you're a better photographer than you are. Penny for penny, this camera is a significantly better value than the T3i, let alone the 60D. Unless you absolutely, positively, specifically need a feature from one of those cameras, I'd say to go for the T2i and to spend the excess money on lenses.

Excellent for all levels of photographer

I first used a SLR in high school. It was a very basic manual film camera. I enjoyed learning about why a SLR is superior to a PAS, and found out how much I liked photography. I used some of my skills later in the fire service taking pictures at fire scenes. I used a SLR, but mostly on full auto. Recently, I got back in to photography due to a friend who is heavily in to it. He recommended the T2i, as he owned one previously. Right out of the box, I was taking excellent photos. I either forgot or never learned about things like DOF, white balance, filter use, and many other joys of SLR use. I was learning DOF and playing with my settings, and the very first portrait I took was outstanding. Since then, I learn, or re-learn new things daily. This camera has been excellent every step of the way. The camera is easy to use and has brought the joy and fun of photography back to me. I frequently play with my friend's 5D and 7D, and I can say that the T2i does every bit as well as the more "pro" cameras. This camera has features that are well up in to the "pro" arena as well. You simply can't go wrong with a Canon, and you can't go wrong with the T2i.

Excellent choice for a DSLR camera

I Selected the Canon T2i after many hours comparing other models and brands. The Canon name is a frontrunner in camera quality and performance. With the availability of the T3i, current pricing of the T2i makes it an excellent choice for budget-minded dslr camera buyers. Highly recommend this model for amateur photographers and photography students.

Awesome!

Soccer season is in full force so this is where I have been trying out my new camera. I love it. I'm getting so great shots. Shutter speed seems to be slower than my old film ME super Pentax with a winder but that could be because I'm still working on the right settings. I fooled around with some macro shots and really like this camera for this application. I can't believe how light weight it is for the size. I miss the swivel LCD that my Canon G-5 Powershot had but I can do so much more with this camera. I am so glad I spent the money and couldn't be happier with the price and quality. The package I got was a super deal!

Great Entry-Level DSLR!

I was searching for a long-overdue replacement digital camera and wanted to step up to a DSLR. I narrowed down my choices to the T2i, T3, and T3i. I ultimately opted for the T2i because the T3 didn't feel as durable and was mostly made of plastic and with the T3i, I didn't see much of a difference besides the swivel LCD (which I can live without). So far I have been extremely satisfied with the camera. Images are nice and sharp, there are plenty of options and shooting modes available to compose your picture (or video), and the size isn't too bad either. The only negative I would cite is sometimes when shooting pictures and looking through the viewfinder your nose may touch the LCD and create a smudge so investing in an LCD protector can help.

A lot of camera at a reasonable price

As an avid photo enthusiast I use my Canon T2i from Adorama nearly everyday. I enjoy creating visual art by capturing images of landscapes, wildlife, sports activities, and family events. I also have found my Canon T2i to be perfect for illustrating model rocketry building techniques and pictures of my Gourd art. The T2i offers me plenty of control over shutter speed, lens aperature, and light adjustment. I don't foresee that I will outgrow the capabilities of the Canon T2i for many years to come.

Great Camera

Easy to use camera for beginners and offers most features professional cameras have. Takes very sharp images with good focus. I would recommend this to any beginner or amatuer that is looking to further develop their skills and get quality images. Not great for continuous shooting.

Wow!! What a Camera!

I am an artist and use most of my photos to paint flowers or birds. The sport feature is great for capturing birds in flight, as well as my niece's swim meet. I also used this feature to capture great images of ice skaters. The manual feature is really fun to use as well. I have used this feature to play with the lighting and enhance the portion of the image I wanted to feature. I love this camera!

Great photos/video from a great camera

This body is light and still solid. Great image quality even getting into a higher ISO. Huge, hi-res LCD helps see the picture. Overall outstanding camera, especially for the price.

It does everything well.

I got the T2i for it's video capabilities and image quality, and both have worked as I expected, and then some. Very easy to use, and quick to customize. As a higher-end 'starter' DSLR, it can't be beat.
